- heinrich5991 12y agoFor me it didn't work. I was still tracked by - Cache, - ETag.
- _puk 12y agoditto. Also, I had to close my browser for the test to be allowed to work (session expiry). I tried closing the tab, but that's not enough. For me that is an unfair test as I hardly ever close my browser down completely.
- Rudism 12y agoIIRC, SDC does not immediately clear cookies/cache on tab closing. It purges them on a scheduled interval. If you close the tab and wait a while (you should eventually see a toast message, if you have them enabled, saying something like "deleted x cookies from blah.com"), then your session should be removed. Closing the browser runs the purge immediately which is why that was working for you already.
- gabriel34 12y agoSome of these methods are simply nefarious. Using cache and cookies to track users is a hack that subverts an useful implementation. I no longer use these features because "good" companies are using it to hack my browser and track me. Here is a new idea: Do you want to track me? ASK ME! Give me a unique hash or something that I can delete anytime I want without losing functionalities on the rest of the web. These companies claim they provide a better user experience by using tracking information. I call their BS; if users wanted to be tracked there would be no need for such techniques to be developed.
