I think what pisses me off the most about FB is they used to be legitimately good, then over time slowly boiled the frog, less and less privacy, more features people don't want, so people begrudgingly put up with it now rather than tru

Radicalization aside, is anyone just annoyed with how much worse the recommendations are compared to how they were? Damn near impossible to discover anything given how biased it is towards "popular" content as opposed to, y'k

And all the higher ups leave the company out of disgust for their destructive impact in the world, when? About now? How about now? Is now a good time?

This is what pisses me off. I'm more than willing to criticize Facebook when they deserve it but IMO the media blitzkrieg has said more about the media than Facebook. Not that FB hasn't done scummy things but my faith in the whole

What bothers me is imagining what board room conversation led to that decision. Here's a piece of information, that benefits the consumer, and they took it away. It's hard to see much motivation beyond "it makes money, by sel

It depends where you come from. Not everyone is aware of the extent of lobbying. And, it may be - not necessarily - that FB does it more than other companies. These are all details that may get fleshed out in time

Right. I would love to be a fly on the wall and see where things go wrong. Do the happy smiley PR people never talk to the actual figureheads making the corrupt decisions? Are they being held at gunpoint to say these glowing things about th

It should be shocking, though. Comments like this don't contribute anything to the discussion and I would argue they're actually harmful because they make people complacent. If Facebook continually assures us that privacy is impor

I don't think in general food delivery drivers get compensated for gas so that would be just about the only time I personally would feel obliged to tip - and I mean in places where things are fair, not the U.S. Otherwise I think tippin

I wouldn't include Firefox in this just yet, a lot of people still trust Mozilla (who nevertheless still have to be very careful not to lose that trust)

It would also be less volume of stuff if Facebook only POSTED THE THINGS WE WANT PEOPLE TO SEE. No "likes" or such. Give people a clear idea what they're actually sharing/posting.

Thanks for actually explaining this. The defenders of Youtube - I'm convinced a few on r/youtube are shills at this point - will say this is all necessary due to copyright law, Viacom lawsuit, etc etc. One day it will emerge the G

I mean one way to do it properly is to actually listen to your users. So many corporations claim to have that as a priority and when you look at real, actual feedback, they really don't. How hard is it to look at the masses of complain

Facebook is playing a very dangerous game by not allowing people full control of their feeds and even algorithmically sorting things. That's different from just "social media", it's a specifically Facebook way of doing t

And does it HAVE to be? At what point does YT just say "piss off, you can't control the internet"? When they use the DMCA properly and not Content ID only because they don't want to lose money on lawsuits?
