Probably you would have contributed more had you received something in return. It needn't be money. Could be even something else. Humans need a reward to continue doing an action. No reward, no action.

Indeed, but most of these projects are really big & popular projects that the organization depends upon. New/Upcoming projects will still be left out due to this. But we should also note that individual donations can make a huge di

Yes, companies probably need to be donating more, but I also think individual donors can also do their bit.

It seems that donation based model is not sustainable for OSS. Even the latest report of Open Collective ( https://blog.opencollective.com/12m-for-open-source/ ) suggests that an OSS projects are receiving just ~4k USD p
