Only in Common Law countries is this true. In Civil Law countries, you actually do need to account for all exceptions.

It’s a legitimate definition though. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. There are many fundamental things that can’t be defined, where we have to rely on social norms and common sense.

15% waiting, haircuts 0% for non-services like taking my order at the counter and having to pick up a call-in 10% for everything else I don’t care if you screw up or move the earth for me, that’s what you get. That’s what everyone gets. It’

I guess everyone has a different way of building things. I think I would just find an e-reader that has a healthy modding community and rely on that.

The price going up was something in the original comment. I guess that isn’t even true and this whole conversation is pointless.

Just because something goes out of stock doesn’t mean the price will shoot up. There has to be enough demand for it. If there are alternatives (which there are), then the demand won’t increase with shortened supply, it’ll actually decrease

You’re missing the forest for the trees. Being able to switch from an optimized CPU-centric workload to an optimized GPU-centric workload without any hardware changes sounds useful to me. You could even do unified memory with upgradeable se

Comic Sans is actually quite legible for its class and well-hinted. It works better with antialiasing off. The main criticism is in its overuse.

It didn’t flop. It just didn’t sell as much as later versions. Apple made the market for its own product. It’s like saying the Apple II flopped because it sold way less than the current Macintoshes. Of course it did: the market was way smal

To be fair, that might as well be ancient history. I imagine more than 99% of Apple’s value comes from post-iPod activity, and I can’t think of anything post–OS X that failed, let alone post iPod.

Home cinema implies (to me anyway) a true surround setup and not some crappy soundbar. You can’t replicate true surround sound with stereo headphones. You can with binaural audio but that requires specialized recordings. I’m sure spatial

I think criticizing Apple for not supporting Nvidia is a classic missing-the-forest-for-the-trees. Unifying memory is a next logical step in general purpose computing. The flexibility that comes from it has unseen potential.

Most people don’t move that far from where they grow up. City populations have more to do with a select few choosing where they want to live and either having lots of babies, or convincing other people to come to them. Once the city is esta

It’s weird because all these things can be done with other (better) hardware. The supply chain issues of high-performance semiconductors makes sense to me because there is no alternative. If the price is going up, it really demonstrates the

What are people using all these Raspberry Pis for? Is it really so needed that the price is becoming unaffordable? There are other components in stock, so I’m curious what’s demanding an RP4.

Is it really worth discussing subjective opinions with a stranger over the internet? I often find these threads to be so ridiculous, like a Metal head arguing with a Classical aficionado who doesn’t like his favorite music.

Why waste time learning about some fad IDE that will get replaced by something ‘better’ in five years? Newer text editors don’t do anything better than Vim, and they are strictly worse when it comes to their primary function: editing text.

America has 110 V which is more of a nuisance than a threat when it’s dry. Our GFCIs are specifically for wet applications (like bathrooms) and so are much more sensitive than European GFCIs.
