This shouldn't be legal, if it is some how. It's should be treated as if an agent of the company came into your house and modified the product to no longer work unless you pay them.

Your analogy is not exactly correct. With an iDevice, this is someone else installing locks on your own door and not giving you the key, and they monitor who is allowed into your house. Even if you wanted the key they won't give it to

I would have to find it again but a while ago I was looking at thermal images of AMDs chipslets and the IO die is pretty cool compared to the chiplets for the cores. There probably is some power savings for using a newer node for the IO die

I find it interesting the article seems surprised AMD said nothing. AMD for a long time was a major owner of shares of global foundries. GloFo Spent a while buying the stake that AMD held. AMD is still using GloFo for it's IO dies as t

I would not even use facebooks apps right now if you cared about your privacy. Also if you could sideload you could install firefox with its own engine allowing more finegrain control over browser settings in about:config or more privacy fo

Sideload open source software. Also if apple allowed side loading it gets rid of the the need for workarounds for GPL licensed software.

How about just make it so they cant sell a device that is locked down from the owner. The fact the boot ROM will only run code signed by apple effectively lets apple retain the right of exclusion even after selling the device. At the very l

I highly doubt its only google or fb who deal with this. It can even be a problem with a single machine depending on the environment. Like I was messing around with a simple circuit on a bread board. One of the ICs had a schimit trigger and
