+10 if I could. This is much better than selling to students. I know a couple startups selling to schools, and there are difficulties there too (like actually closing the deal), but if you want to monetize, this strategy is worth a shot.

No, then you're in the content business. And students won't like you for profiting off their work.

Yahoo! BOSS launched on July 9, 2008: http://www.ysearchblog.com/archives/000599.html Duck Duck Go's site says it was in development for about a year. If it was indeed built on top of BOSS, the developer must've spent 10 months doing pre

If you'd have said "review my app", I would've said it's awesome. Great job. But the moment you call it a startup, I have to ask how you make money. So, how do you plan to make money? Students are poor, and cheap, and I'm not sure ads wo

Yep, these are commonplace in India too. It seems like an easier & cheaper solution. Only thing is the government needs to invest in new lights. Audi got tired of lobbying/waiting, and took things into its own hands.

The Ivy League is an athletic league consisting of private schools in the Northeast. It was created for the purpose of playing sports ! I wish people would stop using the term for other purposes.

Definitely, Paulson knows more about this than Congress. But Paulson has the perspective that comes with being a former Goldman Sachs CEO, so he might (knowingly or unknowingly) be biased towards helping out the banks too much.

Working in Canada != working at a Canadian tech company I'm not sure about facebook, but Microsoft & Google (and others) definitely have offices in Canada.

I don't see any of Google, Microsoft, or Facebook letting technical people go anytime soon, whether you're in the US or Canada. On the flip side, now is a bad time to get a job in investment banking regardless of whether you're in the US o

There will still be a big war chest because: 1) The $40B buyback is over the next 5 years. 2) At least for the next couple years, Windows and Office are still the closest thing in the world to a money printing press.

Matt's right. A "Vista rocks" ad wouldn't be talked about this much. Case in point: see Mojave experiment a month ago -- all Vista, limited success. Even more than fixing Vista's problems, Microsoft needs to get back mindshare & brand

If it were successful, it would be (a substitute). I disagree with that definition of success. OCW is very successful -- its goal is fundamentally different from the degree-granting part of MIT. Success for OCW means that everyone who w

They've also innovated in logistics. You can get Coke in places where there's no running water. They way I see it, Coke's goal is: 1) to make you want a Coke whenever you're thirsty (that's the marketing), and 2) to make it very easy for

I think you're missing the point. Of course being able to ask questions would make a much bigger impact. That's why people go to school. This is not meant to replace that. > "This isn't all that much different from a textbook, is it?

It depends. I don't think anyone sees OCW as a substitute for going to school at MIT. I'd also argue that universities serve other roles beyond education. Universities are gatekeepers, and your degree has signaling value that free online
