I gave up caring. It seems there's some sort of irresistable force that compels people to post articles about the government or the man. I suppose it appeals to this sort of audience, there's always the comment afterwards that "well I found

I've found personally I don't need to block the whole internet - just the top few procrastination websites - facebook, reddit, slashdot, bbc news etc. that I'd otherwise be tempted to read. There's a Firefox extension called LeechBlock ( h

They had an earlier article covering the Apple fall: http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewA... I assumed this Vista one was just a continuation rather than a "VISTA HACKED (oh by the way the mac went too)".

I feel like there's been a slight creep in people posting articles about recession, polictics, current events because they believe that these things are important to this audience. It all still falls within "Hacker News". I think people m

Yes, going back and reading the relevant articles on Wikipedia [1][2], my original post is a bit of a simplistic summary of his argument. I agree that there could be quantum effects that are involved in the operation of the brain somehow. (

I've enjoyed Penrose's books, but "The Emperor's New Mind" (where all this started) wasn't as good as some of his other work. I just came away with the impression that the train of thought was: (Brain == Mysterious & Complex) and (Q
