I think there are "Rockstar" teachers out there in terms of their impact on students if not their popularity. I had a few teachers growing up that changed the trajectory of my life for sure. Not everyone can be a rockstar though, and it's p

You should probably be using the Blobstore API if you are not already. http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/python/blobstore/overv... It takes a bit more work but you could store the original file since it has a 2GB limit. You can only f

Yeah, it requires me to double click and clear or type over the input for each text box... That's more clicking than I should have to do if all I want is a new multi city search from.

If I do a multi city search and then decide I want a new search I like that you save my existing search parameters but I would like it even better if you provided a "clear all" button or something. What if I really do want a new search with

Lake Meritt area in Oakland is pretty cheap and livable. I had an ok one bedroom over there for 750 ish a few years back. It's also pretty near BART so it's easy to get to sf. http://www.oaklandnet.com/parks/parks/lakemerritt.asp Inner Ri

I really like GitHub and I know Fogbugz/Kiln is more expensive but the code review features and bug tracking stuff in FogBugz/Kiln is just so well done. The UI and interaction is so much more polished than anything else out there. Certainly

It does not matter if Disapora "fails." It's a really important problem they are working on and as long as they release some code and it gets people thinking and talking about how to solve the problems surrounding secure distributed systems

Think of a bunch of people using <your favorite app> in a way that makes you cringe. They doing it this way over and over without thinking about the problem they are trying to solve. "It's always been done this way..." You cringe en

I suppose, but I guess we don't really know the actual problem he is trying to solve. If he wants to do anything else with the data down the road then he is back to square one and has to start manipulating text files all over again.

Shove your data into postgresql or mysql with one of their bulk import utilities and let the db handle the hard work of indexing and filtering. That's what they are designed to do. You can then slice and dice the data to your hearts content

A word of caution - if you are used to the NYC system you may be a bit disappointed with the SF system. The trick is to figure out where BART (Bay area rapid transit - connects city's in the bay area) and MUNI (sf system) stop in SF. If you
