There is absolutely no substance to that article except the usual undertones of "the US should not be in total control of things." Giving any control over to the UN, however, has historically been a pretty poor idea.

I buy paper books because I actually want to own them and keep them. The electronic stuff are tech books and pulp I would eventually trash when they are out of date or have been read. Also, for the love of god capitalize your sentences!

All I'm saying is with Heroku you have to clobber these features together and the real cost of that is higher than people may be admitting in these comparisons. I've worked with both platforms and I'm not saying heroku is horrible. In fact

I agree that picking the right tool for the job is important but I just wanted to list the reasons I prefer GAE. There is quite a lot of outrage (raising prices does that) without really considering what the real costs of the alternative pl

An alternate perspective: Google App Engine is still a fine platform even with the new price increases. (Which they told us were coming by the way) And by the time the pricing takes effect the updated python runtime should bring costs down

On the other hand to make a huge stink about a 400 line script that is poorly designed and takes advantage of none of the APIs provided by app engine to make things preferment like back end instances or task queues is a little disingenuous.

15" Laptop (MBP) + 21" LDC @ 1600x1200dpi. I like the 15 inch for the laptop and 19-23 for the external monitor though I don't mind a smaller monitor as long as it can run at 1600x1200 or above.

Start with the standard stuff: Objective-C and UIKit. You don't need any frameworks beyond this unless you are building a game and there will be plenty of time to fight with other poeples code when you are adding ad networks, analytics, in

If you are considering writing any kind of fault tolerant distributed systems or frankly any client server system (In any language) I highly recommend reading the book "Erlang and OTP in Action." [1] It's a reasonably short read and will ma

I think amazon can fix this problem simply by raising us-east prices to be on par with us-west. At least then there would not be quite the incentive to make the foolish choice of running all your instaces out of one region. (I suppose they
