I agree. Combined with a few good habits like favouring select_related() - it's never been a problem.

I'm not sure I follow. That's like saying nobody has ever been moved by a painting or movie because they know it's not real?

I do wonder how future advances in VR will impact this. On occasions VR has given me a true sense of awe, even in it's current, technologically-limited form. If you can conjour up any vista and see it around you at true scale, running

Not sure how much you've used custom GPTs. They are currently flawed and buggy but I think they hold promise. They combine 3 things: 1. A custom initial prompt (yeah - you can paste this in every time and keep a personal database of sp

I don't recall using a dictionary in a safety-critical context recently but I'm keen to hear some examples.

I rather liked it and actually didn't get to see as many examples as I wanted to. Is there a good repository anywhere or is it just "wade through twitter"?

well - chuck $10 at it and spend the rest of your month trying other things. (Back in Disco Diffusion days I was happy to spend money on Colab Pro. It was fun)

Yeah but no but... Generally - the areas where GPT starts to become unreliable are usually fairly "off-piste". My gut feeling is that in most standard educational contexts it would probably be fine. Curious to hear specific exam

The original seems to be on LinkedIn. Does anyone else find it weird when geek content is posted to LinkedIn? It's the last place I'd think to look. Am I missing out or is this an outlier?

New Wave has a specific meaning and it's one that by definition excludes another specific period ("Golden Age") I'm not quite sure whether Jack Vance is regarded as part of either? EDIT - ah - further down the page there

Doesn't Hard SF both predate and postdate New Wave? It's a thread that weaves through the whole of science-fiction. (heck - didn't Jules Verne once diss H.G. Wells for not being "hard sci-fi enough"?)

"users of my application". You seem to be claiming that everyone still on Twitter is ideologically compromised. There's a ton of people just ignoring the politics and I still need a channel to reach them.
