I've personally gone through a lot of the django codebase. It's got a lot inside it, and is pretty easy to understand!!! Bottle can be read from end to end, and one can understand how it works internally fairly quickly.

Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely be using this. Fear of accidental rm -rf * keeps me up sometimes.

In my freetime I have been working on learning React, and more generally modern javascript. After dragging my feet for so long because of bias, I took the plunge a few weeks ago and I love it! It's very cool, in my opinion, because the

Because that would essentially kill a lot of private healthcare jobs and industries. No administration* or congress wants to be the one to axe, say, Kaiser. It'd be a PR disaster. * Theoretical Sanders administration aside.

Really interesting twist in a crazy story that's gotten this far. I'm interested in seeing how this all plays out, Bloomberg's reaction, etc. At this point I don't know what to think, so I'm waiting for the consensu

I definitely think Raspberry Pi is what you want. If you want the login shell to go straight into programming, you could launch an interpreter or text editor on login using .profile or what have you.

I tried it, and honestly it's fine for most cases, but it's pretty slow compared to just plain virtualenv. Considering virtualenv is prefectly fine I eventually switched back.

I agree that might be a bit heavy handed, I personally like implementing frameworks or tools in new languages that I'm learning because it's fun and build familiarity. Production code is way different than that.

This looks really amazing! I'll have to try this out with documentation, and it would likely be great for html books as well. Thank you!

I grow a lot of plants indoors, and the limiting factor is almost always light levels. If your space for growing has a large west or south facing window, you're in great shape! You will be able to grow most plants. However, East or Nor

I personally stick with plain old argparse for 90% of my command line python apps, but when I need something with more utility/higher abstractions I reach for Click as the author mentions. Click is in a sweet spot in my opinion. A new

I don't think that's quite true, I think this is more of a nurture vs nature thing. My father got me into programming, and my colleagues who are women also have a backstory with someone supporting their interest in development.

That's definitely true! It's also good for smaller distros with smaller package managers. It's easier for a dev team to support just Flatpak than to bundle/petition for pacman, apt, yum, eopkg, and so on. I'd greatl

I use flatpak on my system for the fact that packages can be had there I can't get through my package manager easily and officially. That's the only selling point!

Slightly off topic, but if you're okay with a bit of setup, there's a cool F-Droid app called Blokada that's like a personal pi-hole. I had an issue where my firefox browser was great, but the other apps on my phone were extr

I agree with the sibling comment. Nim feels much more like Python, which was the first language I used before I picked up C/C++. For better or worse I was taught Python at a young age! I have a group of related cli apps that need to do
