Vim supports multiline editing and I'd imagine emacs does as well. In bash/zsh, <ctrl-x ctrl-e> opens up $EDITOR so you can use whatever you're accustomed to anyhow. Most of these features are already available if one s

A company receiving receiving $23 million usd to build a terminal is about the dumbest thing I've seen this month. I would've figured it to be a April Fools joke if posted a few days earlier. Why is a company building a terminal

No there is not. Like anything else, there's good and there's bad content, and there's a LOT of content. I'll take a 30-sec or 60-sec video that's straight to the point versus a meaningless 8-10 minute video that&#x

There’s nothing inherently wrong about short videos. Content isn’t inherently good because it’s longer or on a specific medium. Nobody is saying that only one type should exist. Everything has its place.

Obviously. But TikTok/Instagram Reels are orders of magnitude more pleasant than Facebook or Twitter. It’s not really comparable.

How else would a recommendation algorithm work? I don’t see why it’s concerning that a company knows that I like to follow musicians, etc. What’s the alternative? Never finding new things because I refuse to divulge what niches or hobbies I

Comparing things like vine or TikTok or Instagram reels to a 1 or 2-hour long video makes no sense at all. Those are wildly different things and both have their time and place. I haven’t used TikTok but I do use Instagram reels and the feed

I’ve heard and used “o’clock” my entire life but not with 24 hour time. You could say “fourteen hundred (hours)” or 2 pm/o’clock. For 08:00, “oh 8 hundred hours”.

Someone doing a half-assed refactor doesn't mean it's "dangerous" to encode a unit in a variable or function. I do agree that generally it's better to use something like a struct that's more flexible, but doing

Yes, it categorically is a good thing. People make mistakes. Our society should not be an unforgiving one that heavily punishes mistakes or can’t handle basic situations like fraudulent transactions. Prevention of fraud is a cat and mouse g

This is the ideal workflow for me since I think merge commits clutter up the log, but it falls apart if people aren't consistent in following it. *glances and $corp git repo and sees 'updates' 'fix' 'updates&#x

1. You made a boring design. It's not a gen-z thing to dislike sterile, clinical designs that look more suited to businesses. 2. This is an ad, and seems like it was intentionally written as flamebait.

Personally I'd take a job based on the pay & how much you like the company vs what specific tech stack they're currently looking for. When I'm getting paid to do it, I like just about any language; getting to use rust is

People do consistently audit unsafe usage. And I would rather have atrocious rust code that's memory safe, than atrocious C/C++ code that comes with a free package of CVEs. There are tools that explicitly exist for this use case,

Rust was a shiny new thing back in like 2018. It gets talked about a lot because it has a lot of ergonomic and conceptual fixes that make life better. People like that. No, not every programming language is the same. "nobody, other tha

I will agree that twitter irrevocably has changed the online landscape. But I believe it's the ability to instantly transmit things that has pushed towards shorter and shorter content. For example Vine really took off, and now you have
