At least the Hobbit was filmed on dual cameras and didn't just have 3D 'painted on' afterwards. For ordinary shots, it should have correct parallax.

This is interesting and probably quite useful for a beginner, although I would have to say some of the techniques diverge from what more experienced graphics programmers use, e.g. working out the lighting with acos, instead of normalising t

I think it's good to bring to light problems of slavery and unfair labour practices, but it doesn't seem at all accurate. I probably share an overall level of consumption with between 500M to 1B people. If all of the others are our slaves

Well, there's a queue of tats to work through first.

Sure. And in a repeated game theory environment, tit-for-tat, that is punishment for a default, is successful general strategy. No emotion required.

Yes! I really like the game but I nearly stopped playing because of that. It turns out you can accept it, then remove the App's wall posting privilege right away and it will still work. If that hadn't been the case, for me, Zynga would ha

I like the idea of small departments without too many procedural overheads, although a couple of difficulties may be that: 1. larger companies may be nervous of iterating in public because failures/quality problems could look embarrassing /

Macs cost between 30-40% more, not including US state tax, so you generally pay something like 20-35% more. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AoQWiQYB3NR5dDh...

I think many people are assuming this means direct investment but maintaining a high quality, accessible education system is arguably more important.

Not just spacing. The font size seems consistently slightly larger. Have you checked the browser zoom level is 100%?

A lingering death can sometimes be easier for those round about you, to some extent. They know what's happening, get a chance be resigned to the future, but still talk to you before the end. And if it's painful, they can feel relief that

I don't see the 37 signals site as a great counter example. Their main products are on a 2x2 grid above the fold, with an intro paragraph beside them. And the 'call to action' elements at the bottom of the page are a reiteration of the pro

Direct3D was initially much worse than OpenGL, which they saw as a threat because it was cross platform. To this day they are doing something similar with the refusal to adopt WebGL as a standard in their browsers.

Actually, given the original OS X graphics API inspiration, Canvas 2D is arguably closer to 'native' on Macs (and maybe iOS devices) than any other platform. Web3D seems likely to be more at home on primarily OpenGL supporting platforms too

It may not be vague for a user who knows the current context, but I still think that using a descriptive verb is better than the generic 'submit'. For "Create Account" even "Create" would give some idea as to what will happen when the user

"Identify the exact size and offset, in pixels, of the mosaic tiles used to blur the original image (easy)" I don't see that this is easy. Surely you have to test a number of offsets and sizes of text? And without knowing the digits, this

This is not what happened in the music player market - in 2007 the iPod commanded over 70% of sales, helped by modest segmentation (flash vs HDD). While the mobile phone market is much larger and a phone is less of a luxury item for many, I
