"I have extensive experience working with high-end clientele ...For example, I met Calvin Klein on a job I did for him at his penthouse in New York's west side one day." This says it all really.

Honestly if you use gtalk/hangouts you'd be crazy not to use Trillian. It's far more intuitive and user friendly.

"Depression, for example, in my experience, and from what I've seen..." Your anecdotal observations shouldn't drive your understanding. Go read up on it. Suffering from mental illness myself I find your post quite offensive.

"18% of our Zynga brothers and sisters." Who refers to family in statistics? This guy is the anti-christ.

Great article. I have to take issue with this though: "While Google actively tries to thwart SEO scamsters" Google has monetised SEO and actively encourages bad SEO through SEM. You've got this strange case of Google creating shitty searc

I'm feeling some hyperbole coming on, but governments rarely seem interested in serving the interests of their constituents.

A+ for effort. But (and this sounds harsh I know) I fail to see any innovation here. Codewise it's cute, but functionally wouldn't a canvas element make more sense than a couple of hundred list elements?

"short-sighted consumers" You lost me here. If Msofts strategic trajectory needs to be explained to consumers to justify Windows 8's existence, they fucked up. Windows 8 should have been a pleasure to use straight out of the box.

Analysis and responses like this is what makes HN great.

It's also getting widespread coverage everywhere, especially TV News. So this is entirely inappropriate for HN.

Firstly, this is not a political article per se. It has political connotations like most things, including hacking. Secondly, it most certainly "gratifies one's intellectual curiosity." http://ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html

Dissent is a powerful and useful thing. If you feel this is article is a lie and part of a wider political strategy, then present your case. Making sweeping statements without context or reason will not win you friends on HN. FYI HN doesn't

Hey barbs, Parramatta river and Syd Harbour isn't too dangerous for Kayaking. Just stay close to the shoreline and you're good. You weren't considering coming in through the heads were you? That would be quite hairy.

Accountants have been utilising loopholes for decades. I would be surprised if the dissenting judge himself hasn't done so to reduce his tax bill.

Hacker news should be above this salacious crap. This is a distraction of little consequence.

Hate is a strong word. I can't see anything bad coming out of this for the child in question. She's being inspired and supported. Successful adults tend to have had a shit ton of support as children. There are exceptions, but they're rare.

It would be nice to be able to come down unequivocally on one side of this. But it's just such a clusterfuck, it is awful for everyone involved. What a mess.

"in a nutshell: man only started eating a significant amount of carbohydrates about 10,000 years ago." This is a myth and patently wrong. Anatomically modern humans evolved on a diet of cooked food, the bulk of which was tubers and other

I agree it would be hard to draw sound conclusions from the study. The changes probably aren't even outside variability. But are these the claims really that outrageous? ie. The biggest piracy site in the world has a slight effect on sales

No. Quite interesting looking at the comments here furiously looking for flaws in the study. If the results had found the opposite, I doubt the study's legitimacy would have been so vigorously questioned.

If it isn't about DRM and is in fact about the MMO/Social aspects, then why are EA and Maxis at pains to describe it as something else?

I can only speak from experience. In the past when I've been caught doing something illegal or improper, I've been let off by being respectful and apologetic. Courtesy, respect and humility goes a long way.
