My primary network interface has just become "en0" again, after being "en1" for about 8 years (the time between my first iBook with 802.11b, and getting a MacBook Air which doesn't have an ethernet port).

I think they really cleaned this up in the Qt3 -> Qt4 transition - your Qt Designer forms are still turned into code, but not in a generated file that you're supposed to edit. Instead it's a standalone class that you inherit in your own

GreaseMonkey has to contend with these same issues. It has a security model, which will be broken if developers ignore the list of things you can't do. http://wiki.greasespot.net/Security

Strictly speaking all this needs is a working QtGui component in the Qt library. There are a couple of ways to compile Qt to operate against an in-memory framebuffer rather than a "real" windowing environment, although neither is a well sup

OS X will prompt you to download and install Rosetta from Apple, hassle-free, if you attempt to launch a PPC application and you don't have it installed already. It only works if you're launching an app bundle, though, not if you're trying

Have you had different SOAP stacks talking to each other? The case of having identical SOAP implementations at either end (eg .NET 2.0 <--> .NET 2.0, Java w/ Axis 1.4 <--> Java w/ Axis 1.4) is the one scenario where SOAP wor

If one side of the expression is longer, putting the shorter one first can improve readability. (Some would argue that you should assign the longer expression to a variable first). I think that if(S_OK == QueryInterface(IID_IUnknown, &#

Plenty of software manages to share information between processes without using SysV shared memory, and therefore being subject to these kernel resource limits. I'm not saying this should necessarily be fixed - I'm sure the Postgres team ha

A lot of the paywalls fade away if you access from a computer at a subscribing institution such as a university library. I live very close to a university whose libraries are open to the public. Quite handy.

I wonder if it includes the UNIX copyrights. Novell's waiver got a whole load of SCO's claims rejected. Hands up: who wants to see that particular can of worms reopened?
