Does anyone have context as to why FB finances a project like this? Is there an economic argument (ie expanding FB’s TAM by bringing more people online)? Or is there something more nuanced about better connectivity means higher quality and

AppViewX and Venafi are the two main competitors in this space of certificate lifecycle automation - many Fortune 1000s are customers of one or the other to prevent exactly this type of problem - Venafi is the larger incumbent but AppViewX

Doesn't the R&D ramp look a bit unusual? 57 -> 79 -> 141? Totally destroys their margins, right in the year when they must know they're going public?

Could not agree more on Lyft. In a winner-take-all market where an all-out land grab is critical to the long-term success of the marketplace, moving quickly and being the first to reach that golden scale of monopolistic ownership of supply

Lachlan, make sure you're open to job opportunities that aren't initially in software. When I was 13, a doctor (and close friend of the family) hired me to organize sign-in documents for new patients at his office. While there was

I think you get at a great point that the onky way to solve the right problems is to be committed to learning about an industry through all available information channels. To be comfortable spending that much time on one specific industry t

This type of story is so motivating to build vertical software, but for people like me who are trying to identify a vertical software opportunity, it's discouraging that these developers needed to spend a couple years in the industry t

That's pretty comforting to hear. Do you know of any resources off the top of your head to learn this type of thing?

If you're alright ignoring the far more profitable iOS market, then sure, Android is better. But if you're trying to operate a startup that actually needs to make money, it is not a smart business decision to ignore it. Complain a

Sorry I meant churn, but >80% annual retention is very good. 98% annual retention is unheard of in pretty much any decently sized business I've seen.

I disagree - there exist SaaS companies that have successfully executed and are on the path to successfully executing the profitable B2B SaaS model. Take Constant Contact, Responsys, and Blackbaud. While not all of these companies are highl

I totally agree and think this is an important line to draw. If it's anything having to do with offsetting the core unit economics of the business, I'd get worried. E.g. Not correctly determining the cost of delivery as Instacart

The feature I would really like to see would be a printed title Box in the moleskin notebook, which would allow me to title my written work and then pass that title into Evernote when it's scanned. You could obviously also extrapolate this

Totally agree -- it'd be great to get a product comparison on the site to see some feature differentiation laid out. Except for the nice UI, it looks like just another to-do app.
