I've worked with countless engineers who've had 10+ years under their belt that were outperformed and outthought by engineers with half the experience. People with low skill levels and a lot experience exist. The opposite does as

I think people are genuinely struggling with the idea that in some ways these corporations are nearly as powerful or more so, in certain aspects, than the government itself. It's a mindf*ck to consider that they can regulate speech on

Congrats on successfully switching to a new field, and the success of your first product. Both are difficult feats to pull off. I'd be interested in some comparisons between Signal Group Chats and this app. I understand they're no

Babysitters exist. We arranged one for that event, and should be considered responsible. Anything else you'd like to try and drag me on? Here's the original reply for context: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3

Agreed. Sounds like something a person would say after lamenting having children, paints fathers as helpless and pathetic. Personally, it's one the most rewarding challenges that one can step up to.

Only those who were around before it was commonplace would recover quickly. Muscle memory is a thing. I'm often told by younger peers that my practice of leaving my phone at home to go to the grocery store is unthinkable. Folks will ju

I run a small agency in addition to my full-time gig. Every time a recruiter sends me a message I respond with a script that includes criteria for work that I'll do, work that I won't do, and interview limitations. I also include

I used AirBnB to spend a week at a time in different areas of the city I was targeting. I looked for places near things to do, walkable, parks, waterfront, where people congregate. After 8 weeks of bouncing around I narrowed it down and spo

I was in a similar rut 'round about 2013. I won't go into details, but sans a very small number of solid-as-granite people, my group of friends disintegrated for various reasons, including everyone I know getting married off, havi

I think you're missing a key point here: this bridge is maintained by PennDOT. That's not federal, that's state. PennDOT's own report, according the article, showed that the bridge was in poor condition. It's a fail

Always surprising when public officials slip up in speech like that. I'm frequently chastised by my wife for using "got" instead of "have" in front of the kids, something I'd wager I'd have to be coached o

This doesn't apply to right-to-work states. Nuance is required in an argument like this. For nealy half the country, "hard to fire" is bullshit FUD. It's another excuse to be lazy in interviewing and follow FAANG in lock
