> ZFS-on-Linux was always behind BSD ZFS until recently. FreeBSD was never really working on ZFS in a way ZOL was. Whole reason for the switch is because main contributor upstream used by FreeBSD stopped using ZFS. ZOL had more features

Did you include BTRFS in here just to mentioned all weak points of BTRFS and act like they also true for ZFS? Because that's not true at all. > Maybe because in a virtualised environment, you loose many of the benefits of ZFS or BTR

Well, Hifive Unleashed is a dev board with tons of features for developer, a market where $1000 is pretty okay price. It has DDR4 ECC RAM, RPi is another story: it's a single board computer with exposed GPIO and used to be shipped with

Well paxos way more complex than raft. I'm not saying building on top of raft is easy, I'm saying making a MVP raft implementation is easier than paxos. One thing I wish raft had - a learner role which act like a follower that can

Recently had to shop for renter insurance. Lemonade chat bot was the best one. It was the only place I could get insurance without talking a human being. AllState took 4 calls and multiple callbacks just to send me a final quote. While wait

Not even that. All encrypted traffic in china needs to be decryptable by CCP. Which means if your call in zoom was routed to one of their China servers, then CCP has access to it. That is on top of the fact that Zoom encryption is weak af.

There are heat pumps for pools as well as hybrid systems. Also extremely cheap to run. For pools, they actually beat cheap gas heaters.

None of us used official client. Only reason it was popular is because protocol was reverse engineered and there were clients for everyone. This is just capitalizing on ICQ name that many of russians feel nostalgic about. I still remember m

Allocator underneath is keeping track of freed memory, so next allocation has high chance of being squeezed into memory region that has been used before. It's obviously not as good as say GC that relocates after sweep, but at least it

Nah, FreeBSD lost server story in the cloud. There is a very little story in on-prem. There is way more risk choosing FreeBSD as your server OS than as your desktop OS. This is coming from someone who use FreeBSD on daily laptop and weekend

Well, distroless base is 3x alpine. Which is a clickbaity way of saying its 10mb bigger. Distroless nodejs images is...10mb bigger than the same on alpine. Main purpose of distroless is less attack surface rather than size. Without package

Well, no. You talking about HDCP. In this case it's just TLS. There is a lot of reasons why everything should be behind TLS.

If you turn on extreme anti-aliasing then yeah, it might struggle, but guess what? Anti-aliasing ain't that important on 4k.

Simple. ZFS has memory requirements to operate efficiently. If you have less <8Gb of RAM, which is by the way as small as it gets, then you probably have not a lot of drives, therefore won't benefit from ZFS nor FreeNAS. Kind of lik

Isn't RSX (Reality Simulator) was just a name for nvidia graphic chipset in PS3? Oh wait, it is. PS3 used libGCM and PSGL, which is pretty much OpenGL ES 1.1 + Nvidia Cg. Don't forget the fact that OpenGL ES isn't OpenGL. XBo

Guess what. OS X users upgrade their system much faster than win-users. That leads to developers not wasting time to support old OS X and focus on the new one, with new APIs. > OS X users have to figure out if they need that Intel or PPC

You can run FreeBSD in PV mode as well. Well, it will require installing in HVM mode, recompiling kernel (commands in terminal, commands not lines) and rebooting. FreeBSD 10.0 has better support of DomU and KVM Guest.
