OSM probably has a much larger community of editors. Both in absolute numbers and as a share of the users. Because OSM is a community project, editors are more likely to feel responsible for map quality. On Map Maker, users also have limite

Interesting, but I'd rather let SSH handle the SSH connection. Just add a command to the parameters, e.g. to run top: ssh -t hostname top

I noticed that a lot at hacker conventions (CCC). You might think that the guys in simple black t-shirts are tolerant about clothes and don't judge people by their appearance.

Maybe it's easier technically, but nobody really needs tablets. Firefox OS targets the entry-level market, most people in this market will buy just one device.

I'm having a few doubts about this ranking. Freedom of speech in Finland is supposed to be the same as in Afghanistan? I'm sure they theoretically have it in Afghanistan if the table says so, but the consequences will be very di

That's just not their plan. They want to modernize and standardize (to reduce fragmentation) the whole userspace. Replacing init is a big, but far from the only part of the process.

PulseAudio supports network streaming, but it's certainly not the main selling point. Important features are: * Mixing several streams in software, if there's no hardware support (th e FreeBSD sound driver does that as well) * Dyn

The problem is that really small numbers are rounded down to zero, and then when summed together the result is really inaccurate Use log values instead?

Some ideas: * If the juju tool changed the dynamic linker path in installed binaries with patchelf, users could run these binaries directly. * systemd user mode could be useful to manage services

Since Skype is by far the more popular (and important) service, I suppose "Sky" should change their name ;-) http://www.skymedia.co.uk/Audience-Insight/dashboard.aspx

To whoever downvoted this -- how about posting a more comprehensive set of benchmarks instead? My single benchmark is not in any way less meaningful than the parents. But as I said, I often try PyPy on longer-running Python code, and so far

It completely depends on the application. I have yet to see a use case that benefits from PyPy. Here's an example I tried with CPython2, 3 and PyPy yesterday: It loads the most probable translations for all unigrams from a Moses phrase

Red Hat distros: Fedora, CentOS. Red Hat is a technology leader, especially for Desktop stuff, and they have the right attitude to bugs: bugs should be fixed, not worked around, and fixes should be made (or at least merged) upstream.

Great piece of dadaist art and social commentary on "automating everything". For utility-driven cats, this machine seems to completely replace humans. Sorry, you're no longer required.

Satellites are pretty much bound to their orbit once they are launched. They fire their engines only to restore speed (and thus height), and to control rotation. Their speed is such that centrifugal force is in equilibrium with gravity, and
