A high definition youtube video, transfers over 40MiB of data per minute. If 100.000 teenagers decide to test it (obviously not all of them concurrently), then yes, it will possibly come to the point where it isn't justified for HE to keep

So tomorrow everyone signs up for the free Hurricane IPv6 tunnel which is meant to be used by developers and administrators for system testing, HE can't respond to the huge traffic and closes a free and extremely useful service? Thumbs down

No. KDE is a platform upon succesfull software is built. You got the DE obviously, but you get also applications like kdenlive, calligra (and krita), amarok, digikam. The developers of these applications would have a more difficult time if

It is obvious that you haven't used KDE for many years. What is funny though, is that Ubuntu did the same thing (throw GNOME, bring Unity), yet you are perfectly ok with this.

My focus was on tablets and netbooks. We have a real and proven Linux based solution, a solution you can install now on your Nexus 7. Granted; it isn't perfect, the installation procedure isn't for the faint of heart, but it exists and nobo

Exactly! But the Surface family has imo 2 problems. 1. Windows applications doesn't run on ARM, so you can't run your desktop software. 2. Microsoft has to differentiate its products, to assign them to different target price groups and to m

When it comes to notifications, easy sharing and usability features in general, it has them all and they are touch optimized. I guess you mean that it doesn't look like Android or iOS. This can be changed easily through a theme. Convenientl

I am a bit tired of how much Ubuntu gets promoted compared to other Linux based solutions. Here is a video of KDE's Plasma Active running on a Nexus 7: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bb7isMAmwW0 It is a real use video, there aren't any fa

For a $5 vps you don't have to wonder, just try it out for a couple of months if you have time and incentive (like many Linodes). I think it would more fair though to compare a $20 Linode with a $20 offer from another provider.

I strongly disagree. Provided you have a properly configured system (correct DPI settings), anything above 14-16 font size is large and anything below 9-10 is small. You have to code your site for the norm and not for the outliers. There ar

I don't see any stealing taking place here. Path doesn't access your location data as you instructed it. It accesses your photos' exif data which is a completely different thing. Even if path didn't process and show in html these data, sinc

Given that the article was written by Dijkstra, your interpretation is probably closer to the truth than mine. I wonder though if this lesson has the same value nowadays as it had on its day. Maybe it is because of such lessons that this de

To me the point of the parable (apart from clever programming) seems to be that for a successful venture you need to have competent people on all fronts, managers and engineers, good communication between teams and listen to your clients. T

I do not have any such issue. Are you sure this sidebar comes with the official java installer from www.java.com? From what I've heard, I guess it comes with Java installers from 3rd party sites.

The article claims that trojans spread through Google Play which is false. The original reports explain that the trojans come from small 3rd party stores and illegal downloads.

Their usage example is terrible. It makes you focus to its subject (android vs iphone) instead of their platform. They should replace it with a question that most visitors are neutral and/or not too interested to.

Customizability is of the utmost importance if you want to adapt your device to your workflow. I prefer it to adapting my workflow to each device I use (and they are more than one). But the important part is that a customizable environment

The change (removal of some plans) is a couple weeks old. About CPU priority, Linode never kept it a secret. For the small VPS (512MB RAM), you get a guaranteed 1/20 of a 4 core XEON processor and it scales linearly with each plan's RAM. As
