5$bn may not buy a huge amount of voting power, but if there are close votes on important things then it could be enough to affect the company. Keeping ones enemies closer, regardless of voting, can also help overall.

According to [0] it was a contractor working for both Apple and Microsoft. Not an ex-Apple employee but still an interesting read, if true. [0] https://thisdayintechhistory.com/12/06/apple-sues-over-quick...

I invested in a shitcoin called USD in 2013 and now it's worth a lot less. I invested in BTC in 2016 and now it's worth a lot more. Positives and negatives to fiat and crypto and none are immune to having issues.

Bitcoin may be better compared to gold bars: I give someone a couple gold bars and then realize it was a mistake. Those gold bars are gone unless the other party is willing to return them. Credit cards have a 3% charge on everything. That i

Doing KYC is somewhat against the whole idea of like "no government involvement" but it doesn't negate that the government controls the currency. You lost all interest because Bitcoin became attractive to people who deal with

Fun! How is it that such a long hash can be shown in a 5x6 grid with some 256^3 options per slot? I get 503,316,480 possibilities. But aren't those hashes supposed to be so numerous that there's basically no chance of collisions?

USD 100k is an absurd amount for most people to invest all at once in anything whatsoever, not to mention the risk level involved. USD 10k is a lot but more reasonable. And that nets way less than USD 100k in this situation, which isn'

In hindsight, I suggest GPUs and hardware that can handle both bitcoin _and_ ML, and oscillate between the two as demand oscillates.

Bitcoin and crypto in general has risks like any other investment, just a lot more of them. SHA-256 attack means everything's doomed though right? And 51% attack with the size of the network is some absolutely insane amount of GPU powe

Can someone explain how a BTC tumbler can fail to obfuscate the history of a certain BTC wallet? Seems like such an easy way to basically blame everyone involved in the tumbler which is not how prosecution works. A defense counsel tactic si

Prediction that has been right 100% of the time (so far): Bitcoin's value will be more in the future. Now that stonk people are in to BTC and it's worth is much higher, it's volatility is far less. It's still a speculati

Been shilling crypto since 2016 and never heard "Bit" as a reference to bitcoin. Common are: Bitcoin, BTC, satoshis, sats, crypto, bitkorns, space cash.

I see it as more of a hedge. Put 1% into the counterpoint to the rest of your portfolio. I'm personally heavily invested in crypto so I make sure to hold traditional stonks as kind of a hedge against all this space cash crashing to gro

I too use my share of simplifications (Brave Browser, Ghostery, archive.is ) but the fact is until ~2008, web content was auxiliary to the main form of content ingestion via newspapers, magazines, TV, radio. Now that the Web is one of the m

Any time I land on a webpage that has text that goes full width left-to-right with a white background and black text I feel there's a good chance it will be very useful content. I miss that.

When I have made custom video players, the key is to replicate all the expected behaviors (space bar pauses, etc) and then add bells n whistles from there. The <video> API is (I think) always the ultimate arbiter, so respect the user

Interesting point about wash trading being somewhat untraceable. How about a coin that connects a hash whatever to each chunk of the token as it moves around so every coin has a backstory written into the blockchain. And that sounds like cu
