I'm guessing this tool was using some sort of rate-limited API to get keyword data from Google, and it's been throttled. :)

I'm not sure I can give out exact numbers, but it's far in excess of what any single machine can push out, either practically or technically. Advertising it would be just as misleading as any other specific number. :)

A lot of consumers seem to think they are already -- and that they have some sort of authority to take action against "bad" businesses. Whether this means that they should be is another matter, of course.

With those sorts of numbers (100 tb/day ≈ 10 Gbps, for instance), nobody can offer that amount of traffic under "unlimited" terms. One of the limitations I mentioned is that we won't upgrade infrastructure just to support individual custo

Our limits are based on policy, not numbers. The policy is (roughly) outlined at http://www.dreamhost.com/unlimited.html if you're curious.

What we're up against is that providing raw numbers for usage limits leads to several problems. Among them: 1. Competition. If you provide N gigabytes of storage/bandwidth, another provider will offer N * 2, and they instantly look more com

We (at DreamHost) don't state any explicit limits as they're pretty fluid in practice. The effective limits are basically: * Don't use enough resources that you make it hard for us to provide good service to other customers. (Saturating the

We (DreamHost) don't have mod_pagespeed support out quite yet, but the feature should be available to our customers by the end of the day today, as soon as I flip the switch to turn it on. :)

That link has been there since... oh, I don't know exactly, but I definitely remember it from 10.2 or so. So something like eight years.

Ohohoho. No... if you omit the second parameter, PHP sets variables from the query string in your local scope. Surprise! It's register_globals all over again.

Interestingly, that image search shows the Crystal Tux designs (one shows up second in that search for me - it's shiny, rounder, and has unevenly sized eyes) is nearly as popular as the classic Larry Ewing design in adaptations.

iStat Menus works the same way, yes. The private API is called NSMenuExtra. It's considerably different from NSStatusItem in that NSStatusItems are created by an open application, whereas NSMenuExtras are created by plugins to SystemUIServe

The problem is that most popular PHP applications (and, by extension, most PHP-driven sites) are far more complex than that model allows for. It's telling that HTML appearing before a <? tag is generally considered a mistake. :)

The Magic Trackpad still sort of assumes the presence of a cursor. I suppose you could have it use absolute positioning for this case, but that would still feel pretty inexact.

Android is, at least, designed with some degree of variation in hardware specs baked in. Dealing with something as weird as a TV would be a stretch, but it would at least be an extension of existing behavior. iOS, on the other hand, is de
