I am no AI scientist, but as a humble software engineer it seems to me that machine consciousness is not viable within a binary computer paradigm. However, if quantum computing, which much more closely resembles the analog nature of neurons

The Technics SL-1200 turntable. The fact that the design has not changed except for minor tweaks since the product was released speaks for itself. I used it both as a DJ many years ago and now kept one of the turntables just for listening.

Vermont’s law is a great first step, but also a very kid gloves approach. It appears their disclosure requirements are minimal, basically that the company exists and how to opt out. What I would love to see is a requirement to notify the pa

My email includes a common Swedish first name so I regularly have people mistakenly use my email address for Klarna orders. What’s most annoying/troubling is that, at least last time I checked, they don’t verify an address before sendi

It bothers me for the same reason that any form of unsolicited email is a nuisance. It's one more irrelevant email notification, one more irrelevant email to have to archive, deal with, etc. If it were very occasional, I would not ca

The meaning of and technology needed to build a “basic web app” is in a continual state of evolution. Therefore, googling is not so much required due to a lack of knowledge but rather due to that this knowledge needs to be continually kept

Except you are imposing your “manifesto” on others by forcing an extra response.

The article states that there are 130,000 dogs and 125,000 cats, which sort of begs the question, why is the focus on the number of cats, when there are even more dogs?

Great list. Adding one of the most common mistakes I see during interviews: Not saying “I don’t know” when you clearly don’t know the answer to a question.
