I know very little about C, C++, or Rust, so I want to ask this to understand why C++ was picked for this. My limited understanding is that people were tolerating C++ libraries like OpenSSL, but that new crypto or security code would likely

Presumably you'd want Google to index pages, just not try to discover pages by brute forcing the URL? Is there any way to do that in robots.txt? Someone did mention adjusting the crawl rate in Webmaster Tools -- would the author need t

You can have multiple domains for a certificate. I usually do something like: certbot -d example.com www.example.com [other flags here] That’s from memory, it might be another -d per domain.

CGNAT will hopefully drive people to IPv6 because it's really quite bad. This talk is really interesting in explaining why it's so bad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbk4H6EmZzI Edit: Changed likely to hopefully

I'm curious why you were downvoted. I have found animations do slow down my phone. When I press the home button, as the apps fly in, I can't scroll left/right until the animation is done playing. I have reduce animations turn

I don't think anyone intentionally wants to write slow software. What would iOS and Android developers (both app and OS) stop doing or do differently?

Having spent months learning Haskell, I'm interested to pickup another mind-expanding language. If I read SICP (and also watch the MIT lectures), what dialect should I follow along in? Ideally I would learn something people are using t

Are you sure it needs to be "cured"? Lately I have been thinking that it's a blessing in disguise; a painful -but effective- motivator to improve and seek out new skills and more knowledge. Yes, it comes with a side of depres

Wait a sec... My gaming PC (2x AMD R9 290X, 8 GB video memory) is absolutely awful with a lot of (esp. Ubisoft) games like Assassins Creed or Watch_Dogs. I just assumed the games weren't optimized for AMD hardware. That is based partly

Wasn't this (partially?) solved by making the domain black and the rest of the text gray? That's how it appears in Firefox. It makes it very easy to see "ycombinator.com".

Given the adoption rate of SSL, I imagine the padlock itself will become useless even without Chrome's changes. Does it mean anything if almost every website has it?

That's a really interesting point. I recently bought an adjustable (height) desk and I use it on-and-off as a standing desk. I prefer to write code standing, and watch TV/play games sitting. To adjust the desk, I need to pull out

That's a good guess -- and may explain it for a number of people, but in my case it's extremely unlikely. I live in the UK, where RAM doesn't really sell vehicles here, so I've never seen any of their adverts before, and

Oh yeah! It’s crazy expensive :( What I’m trying to grapple with is this desire of mine while trying to be aware of my environmental impact. If there’s no way to have my cake and eat it too, I won’t get one.
