Thanks for that link, it's good to see more measurements. Would you elaborate a bit on APNIC's data having less bias than Google? As far as I know, Google is quite popular worldwide, with the exception of China, so measurements ta

The charts graph IPv6 traffic, so it also represents a lot of human behavior. What you're seeing here is actually IPv6 being about ~4% higher on weekends compared to week-days. Looking at last week's data: June 16th (Sat): 2

I'm completely ignorant about C++, so I will ask this question: What's the state of memory management in modern C++? Is it easier to avoid shooting yourself in the foot? Can you write code that is completely safe? I've alwa

Couldn't the NSA start working with other ISPs than AT&T? I'd really like to see CDNs like CloudFlare start requiring Cloud <--> Origin encryption; e.g. what CloudFlare calls "Full SSL" -- https://su

It's a nice to have - but not a dealbreaker - for me. Since I've been using GitHub for years, I am already locked into a platform that's IPv4 only. If I'm moving somewhere new, I'd like to have IPv6 if possible.

If you're thinking of moving off GitHub, one thing that I have heard about that might help you is you can ask GitHub to mirror repos, the way https://github.com/moodle/moodle looks -- note it says: moodle&#x

Hey, what software are you using to collect the data and display that graph? I wouldn't mind running something on my server that could notify or log if 1.1.1.1 (and other services I rely on) are slow or down.

Do you mean it can't ever be trusted? Or just right now? BGP hijacking isn't that difficult to pull off. I hope you're not trusting 8.8.8.8 either: https://twitter.com/bgpmon/status/44526664261686886

How effective is this? Looking at https://bgp.he.net/ip/1.1.1.1 , 1.1.1.0/24 is apparently "ROA Signed and Valid". I don't know a lot about BGP. Does this mean hijacking this subnet is a bit harder t

AFAIK you can configure this in chrome://flags to see what it looks like. Do you know the thinking behind getting rid of the EV indicator? Is EV considered useless? Edit: Just as I posted this, someone else answered my question:

Off-topic: how did you format that equation (K = mv^2/2) so nicely? e.g. mv is in italics. It looks really nice. Does Hacker News have built in LaTeX, or is that just very clever use of Unicode?
