Thanks for the chuckle. Towards the end of the function, I think I've developed sympathy for "LINEBREAK" and didn't want it to go away.

I like your recap of the issue in a different comment, but I think you're not giving enough weight to the fact that it wasn't known before that YC funded the team starting on a different projects, not IM. In fact, even now this information

You're more obnoxious than all the critics in this thread put together. Get off your high horse. The reason all the "random nobodies" are questioning IM's business model is that they have deep-seated feelings about the scammy business and t

It's bizarre that you start your list of recommended books on mathematics for "people who never got far with it at school" with Penrose's _The Road to Reality_. No one should follow that recommendation. The book is not really readable witho

This is also convenient for when you want to pay back technical debt and fix some of the old TODOs: you can search the codebase for those with your name on them.

You were able to change my mind on the issue with your well-written and detailed comment (I also had no knowledge to go on besides the chessbase.com article). So please don't think it was a waste.

It isn't that he wrote a scary story. It's that his story looked much less plausible in 1997 than it does now. I remember reading the story at that time. I thought it had something going for it, but was very far-fetched and unrealistic. 1

The method offered at the post urges you to install the desktop Kindle software, and de-DRMs files from its storage. That hasn't always worked in the last year, as Amazon tried to obfuscate the key storage in the desktop versions, and there

What you describe works fine in theory; the problem is that in practice it's ridiculously easy to overestimate how likely the average user is to train themselves to expect this behavior. In general, we (power users, developers, etc.) tend t

So what you're saying is that Chomsky means that USSR's regime wasn't anarcho-socialism. I agree that it wasn't. But Chomsky isn't saying that; he's saying that it wasn't socialism, and not only that, that it was "about as remote from socia
