I have a pair of Denon AH-D2000s and they work pretty well for this purpose. It doesn't do the job perfectly though it cuts out most idle chatter.

There has been some research done into why this is (I'm citing a personality course I took), and it could be because some people's brains have a lack of stimulation, and others are overstimulated. The people lacking stimulation fi

You're the one using the wrong words: actual experts on concurrency and parallelism disagree with you: http://existentialtype.wordpress.com/2011/03/17/parallelism-... http://blog.golang.org&#x

Actually it is important to learn about, because it's possible to do parallelism without bringing in the issues of concurrency (non-determinism, synchronization) and thus write code with less potential for serious bugs.

Thanks, people need to learn the difference between concurrency and parallelism ffs, I'm tired of explaining the difference all the time.

Completely agree. This is extremely basic stuff you should be doing on supposedly secure systems. It should be difficult to disable logging, and logs obviously shouldn't be stored on the same machine with write access to anyone who m

Really? They didn't consider the notion that someone might delete logs (or disable logging)? Maybe they should be using a better logging daemon...

I use vim, so no. Also Bram Moolenaar works for Google so I don't think he needs my money.

I just donated 20 dollars. Nginx is a really excellent example of how to do concurrency correctly imo, and I think they deserve a lot more.

Great, that seems to have fixed several bugs I've been encountering as well (if I switched tabs the firebug UI would disappear).

Yeah, I meant that it's not exactly the same level. Certain implementations of RSA were using broken sources of entropy, but it's not the same as "Bob always uses his address as his password" which has no entropy.

Yeah, when I originally read about this I thought more or less the same thing. A low amount of entropy is already assumed in various attacks (like dictionary attacks), or even just guessing based on your knowledge of the person who created

You can create lightweight threads built on delimited continuations in javascript, same as any language that supports thunks reified as functions.

Yeah, I should've said "all". I know that you can describe regular grammars using languages designed for CFGs, like BNF.

Do you mean that some regex implementations allow you to parse context-free grammars?

Why isn't anyone doing languages that compile to a trampolined form of JS? It would kill two birds with one stone: you get to write recursive code without wasting memory, and you can easily implement a lightweight thread scheduler. It

Chomsky doesn't think we should be trying to observe how people use language on a mass scale, so screw him imo. See: http://languagelog.ldc.upenn.edu/nll/?p=3180 "The other argument has to do with the methods

The GIL is not an issue if you aren't interested in doing parallelism, and if you are then there are much better ways of doing it that don't rely on non-determinism (and thus are easier to reason about). You only really need pytho

If you look through the questioner's history it seems like they enjoy making these sorts of threading/synchronization errors, as well as getting angry/trolling. I wouldn't be surprised if the story about losing the 12 mi
