I use arch for my personal machines and work gives me debian. Yes, there are bugs, i usually see them (a lot of them are obvious in KDE) on arch from month 0 to month 1, then if I'm unlucky (depending on when the bug appeared) I'm

And where if you have a non-computer device, having a HDMI port forces you to not have any other ports due to licensing. Ever wonder why most TVs and Home Theater Receivers do not come with DP ports?

It really shouldn't matter as long as the frequency is high enough (>2000Hz). On their 1st gen laptop it seems seamless to the point where I can't tell (if it's DC or not).

I've been running vicunda-13B on a workstation that can be aquired from ebay for about $500. It's slow compared to online services, but probably slightly faster than text to speech would recite its output, so plenty. Falcon 40B is

I'm less interested in using someone else's computer (not as much, but similar to how i'm disinterested in an API from someone like OpenAI), would rather pay the upfront hardware cost than worry about how many tokens i genera

40B is pretty large, right? I expect it would take 70GB or so of RAM to run it. That's some expensive hardware ($10,000 or more).

I'm amused how "chatgpt" is becoming genericized.

Yeah, this is what a lot of people don't get: HDMI Alt mode has failed to launch, a lot of devices out there just use the DP alt mode when trying to output video out of a type C port. When you have a C-to-HDMI (eg https://fr

What if you go out of business? Or I really want to move my blog to another platform? The captive ecosystem aspect is a little "evil".

He documented a similar phenomenon too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weJ4JdFat8o&t=167s Your chair is fine, but your monitor is probably a potato if it can't take that interference.

While that's a cool chip, it doesn't really apply here. USB2.0 ports on the RPI4 only have 2.0 lines (from DWC2 inside the SOC). USB3.0 ports on the RPI4 have both 2.0 and 3.0 lines going to it (both sets of lines for this port co

The USB2.0 ports are driven by an ip block called dwc2. It's always been a potato. I suppose it was designed for ancient phones that mainly needed it to be as device(aka gadgets) to other usb hosts (eg: a phone connected to a computer,

Reminds me of that libreboot that targetted a very specific rk3288 chromebook (out of the 8 available) even through the original coreboot was blobless on all of them.

That would be super expensive from an electrical BOM point of view. Laptops and phones are simply not designed to input video. Closest you might get is USB gadget (also pretty tricky) and do display over that (ala displaylink).

Lazor's SOC has 1 internal type C port and it was a pain to transform that to 2 external ports via a HUB and complicated muxes. There really isn't any other performant ARM chip that has more ports, enough to work in a framework 4

Servov4 is overkill unless you need to be testing your chromebook 24/7 in an automated fashion. Everything else can be done with a SuzyQ instead. https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromiumos/third_party/hdc...
