I haven't downvoted, but you've not given any reasoning behind why you think OO code is more readable than functional. I suspect most people think readability is more affected by style rather than choice of programming language.

Cheer up - at worst you've got more experience than most late 20 year-olds I know, and there's not too many developers with both business and programming experience. I suggest you do some freelancing or consulting while you get your head to

I think the point about Dublin is that it is a bit further away if you are in mainland Europe. It's not that far though, and it is closer to the USA.

Have you never heard the phrase "History is written by the victors"? The problem is trying to determine what is objective fact - you often end up relying on witness statements, some of which will be lies or misremembered. And then you have

I don't think Norvig was arguing Chomsky was completely wrong about what he said, more that statistical models are a hell of a lot more important than Chomsky implies. Looking at the statistics and evidence is of great importance in trying

To be fair, I think it's based on a European directive that all European countries will need to enforce sooner or later (unless it gets changed).

Seems pretty worrying to me. There aren't many other choices for free XSLT processors in Java, and it seems a pretty basic need for XML devs.

But they don't act as a "gateway" to the content, so I don't see how they can be considered a publisher. They are effectively an XSLT script run through a remote server. You say to readability "here, make this webpage better", readability d

Clearly he is capable of thought without "instant-access resources", given that he drafted the article without them. Internet access is becoming a fundamental human requirement; this need should not be overly exploited by corporations.

I'm happy to use SBCL actually, it's just a bit easier to use CLISP as the book examples are for CLISP. I've already figured out how to run external programs from SBCL (so that I could run dot which is used in Land of Lisp). However, there'
