Worse, Mr. Olsen would dismiss me outright because I have gone to a state school ... and done Java Mr Olsen makes no judgement in his post as to which of the two candidates is 'better'. He just asks the question "You’d ignore this inform

General advice I've heard is that you should be out looking for money well before you need it. Sometimes several months before.

University academics can be a good example of this. Sometimes experts in a given field can be terrible lecturers/writers, yet no-one would doubt their abilities.

Maybe SGaaS is a valid business model, where SG = scapegoat One could argue that consultancy firms are already in this business, as you've just described. When unpleasant decisions need to be made, hire a bunch of consultants who can 'rub

Phil didn't point out that pupil dilation also is a factor (presumably for the sake of simplicity). You might be able to resolve two points in one lighting condition but not in another.

In addition, most issues in real life don't leave lasting traces the same way that typewritten messages on forums/comment threads do.

Well put. I've gone through the legal process acting for an investor. A lot of the legalese felt like an insurance policy and was dreamed up by the lawyers (read: copy/pasted) for scenarios that neither the investor nor startup cared about

This is an interesting case but I find it a bit worrying how much emphasis people can place on tiny bits of information. A few pics taken out of context or a misguided twitter post that leads to inadvertently missing out on a job interview

Ok, possibly a dumb question but how do people write raplets? The TNW article doesn't point anywhere and I can't see anything on the rapportive site either. What do people need to do?

Nice. Can you say what other raplets are on the way?

I think that's unfair. It may not be obvious from the outside but we spent a while discussing this internally. What's happened is unfortunate for Go Test It, but from what I've seen from the rapportive team, they are fully committed to it

We've considered it but the truth is we can't keep running it in the mean-time. We'll have to wait until the dust settles and then see where we stand.

We've got a few hundred people signed up to Go Test It and it just felt rude to turn the service off without any info as to what a user might do next. The other services I mentioned in the email are Selenium based so hopefully users can tra

Hey folks, I didn't realise this made it to Hacker News (I guess I should have been on top of that). The reason we're shutting down Go Test It is because the founder is moving full-time to Rapportive (rapportive.com). They've had some ama

I've actually gone through this process and it was amazingly quick to get create an event (I thought I'd got something wrong). A lot better than eventbrite. However, a screencast would be great.

All paid for by Red Gate. We're hoping we'll find great start-ups we can work with in the future (and also help them get there).

This could only happen since Neil and Simon are co-founder/CEOs. I can't imagine any external shareholders would have approved it (if they had them).

That all depends on how much skin. Most incubators I've heard of take small stakes in a lot of companies. The start-up just becomes one more fish and it rapidly becomes a numbers game for the incubator. I might be wrong though.

Not really about PR. We want to find start-ups and teams we can build long-term relationships with.
