I'd love that, but that generalizes the argument, and it does not naturally follow that this is true.

Maybe we just need to sprinkle around jammers, and use them as beacons.

Was LORAN also resistant against jamming/hacking?

A 10x engineer can be turned into a 1x engineer when given enough apprentices. However, those apprentices can become 2x, 3x engineers. Ok, there must be some optimum.

Because why would you make everything more complicated if the file system can handle it just fine, plus you can automatically deduplicate other files that have nothing to do with package management?

Next thing, hotels will use "microlens wallpaper", so the device becomes practically useless. See also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonlinear_junction_detector#Co...

You're missing the point. No normal user program can ever do what a filesystem can do: deduplicate in a way that is hidden for the user of the filesystem. Unless you want to change everything into a black box managed by the package man

Yes, but package managers are not that great either. Better keep them as simple as possible. And you don't have to do deduplication in an online fashion; you can do it overnight, if you want, as just a simple example.

Imho deduplication belongs at the filesystem level, so the user won't (directly) see it or even know about it. Modern file systems like btrfs have the api for it.

Yeah but only _you_ know what to do when your code breaks, ha ha.

Could be! I have not (yet) spent much time learning about how llms work, just the occasional blog here and there. My main question is why we _need_ a bit of additional code to massage the input into tokens and especially why the neural netw

The article has quite some assumptions. They also assume a base-N system with big-endian lexicographic ordering from left to right. Has the author not heard of Roman numerals?

Yes. By the way I think it is a pity that all the tutorials start with token embedding; by teaching LLMs like that, you don't learn why they are necessary.

I've been wondering why we can't skip the entire token embedding step and just feed the model raw Unicode. I suppose the reason for that is efficiency and it's related to your question. Makes one wonder what other steps we ca

I think what matters is who is in control. You can always ditch the Nvidia driver and buy another card from a different company. Even if that one is not open source, you're the one in control.

Yeah most OSes contain open source code, but that doesn't make them open source as a whole.

Yes it is not perfect, but a company telling us where democracy is functioning or not is not a solution and if a company suggests it, that is arrogant and dumb.

Nobody said companies _are_ democracies ... you're reading something that is not there. The point is that Apple thinks it can somehow bend the rules of the EU that were established democratically. As if users are better off with Apple&

Do you use it to write HTML/CSS? Javascript? C++? There's a huge difference in ways people use models and if you are not specific about it then your comment means nothing, unfortunately.
