Netflix has a short documentary on this very thing. It was really eye-opening that counterfeit makeup and cosmetics are not only bad for businesses but they can be physically harmful to the body/face, resulting in some people being rus

Only thing I don't like about GitHub Actions so far is the YAML structure. e.g. name: master-pull-request on: pull_request: branches: - master jobs: test: name: run tests runs

The author could move to a new blogsite and clone articles to Medium to keep that 18% audience. Treat it more like Twitter/FB/HN instead of the only source. This has the drawback of more work for the author though. Perhaps there a

Agree. Also their webpage for Pop!_OS[1] should show front-and-center what the GUI/Desktop looks like, not the logo of the OS name. They should take note of elementary's landing page.[2] - [1] https://system76.com/

So, KarelDB makes use of KCache (among other OSS). Which so happens that Kafka uses. But KarelDB does not use Kafka and vice versa. Did I get that right? EDIT: After reading the GitHub README, it does appear KarelDB makes use of Kafka. Its

That's cool. I also saw someone mention PI-hole. I'd pick whichever method is easiest to setup for my parents, and lowest-maintenance so they don't have to call me. ;)

One of the first images to appear on my Samsung TV, after purchasing and plugging it in to the power outlet, was a prompt asking to connect to my WiFi. They almost got me, but thankfully there was an option to skip that step. But I'm s

I think the analogy works better with queues and distributed services in general, rather than just Kafka.

I tried publishing a side-project to Maven Central for a few hours, only to give up and publish to Bintray in minutes. I'm willing to admit I was probably doing it wrong, but I'm glad it forced me to look at other options. There a

Its neat, but doesn't make sense for a majority of apps/programs. Why would I run GIMP/Photoshop or any Graphics-heavy program on my phone? Why run any GPS-enabled app on my Desktop?

Yes in-memory is the fastest, but I think its useful when comparing SQL queries (slow) to querying Redis (faster) for cache data, especially for distributed systems.

Magic link emails are terribly slooooow. Waiting for that email takes too long most of the time. I could've already logged in with a password by now, not even using a password manager.
