Generally, all packages depending on that library will need to be rebuilt. But that is automatic when you do an update, it just may take time (either for packages to be rebuild locally, or by the build farm if you're using channels). B

As a non-designer, I disagree. I played around with FreeCAD a bit, and I was constantly wishing "just let me enter the damn formula" while messing with those graphical constraints. Or could be it's just implemented badly ther

You mentioned correct treatment first :) I'm just saying that masking the clock is unnecessary and doesn't make correct treatment any easier.

There's no need to reduce the range, you can just treat correctly the full counter range (see my other comment).

I'm curious, is there any configuration of the PID parameters that would achieve optimal control for this simple physical system? I suppose the optimum looks like 100% thrust and switching to -100% thrust at just the right time to stop

It would. Which would fail the condition that I mentioned "if the timing/duration of the events is suitably limited". So you should just not do what you suggest :)

A general solution to the overflowing-clock problem is to deal with the clock in modular arithmetic. When wanting to know if t2 comes before t1, check the MSB of the modular difference. uint32_t t1 = ...; uint32_t t2 = ...; if ((uin

A shutdown(O_RDWR) is safer, and AFAIK, reliably interrupts any blocking calls on the socket. Calling close is risky because another thread might just then decide to read or write to that file descriptor, which might be a completely differe

I don't know how it actually works, but I can't see how this would be needed in that situation. The ^C signal goes from client to server, while the program is flooding in the opposite direction. So the flood of data shouldn't

Agree. It's time to leave AVR uC's behind. There are many ARM chips on the market which are both faster and cheaper than AVR.

Not quite. You can map shared folders to the guest and edit the code in the VM with your favorite editor, but build it on Windows.

In extreme cases, I combine templates and macros to achieve the desired conciseness of code. Templates are powerful, but often a lot of verbosity/boilerplate is still needed, where macros may come in. That is usually in a basic form as

I see zero problem with using SSH, which happens to be a pretty secure protocol. In fact I would prefer it to HTTPS since it is not by default vulnerable to malicious CAs. Note for example that GitHub allows Git access over SSH. When the au

This has nothing to do with "accumulating crud", it's a trivial thing, there's probably less code needed to not treat 0.0.0.0 differently. Also, the amount of people who have ever typed 0.0.0.0 into a browser is so sma

Though, sometimes you want to benchmark with 'ondemand' just to see how the cpu scaling affects your code. It is known that 'ondemand' may make multi-threaded programs run slower when run on multi-core system. The proble
