Where would the graphics view framework fit? Wouldn't that potentially be a good fit for modern UI on desktop when you want a custom and consistent look-and-feel on all platforms?

Maybe it figures out left/right but mixes up up/down :) Flipped upside down and rotated 180 degrees is the same thing as flipped left/right.

A properly programmed device should have no issue. A device only needs to know the date to within 10 years so that it can interpret the week number correctly. So if the device runs its own clock that it synchronizes to GPS, it should keep w

This only gets you there if the physical distance between the stereo images on the display is <= the distance between the eyes. If it is greater, you would need to look at something more than infinitely away / behind you (your eyes

I agree, and diverging gets practically impossible if the image is farther away, like on a TV screen. There is no natural scenario when one's eyes would diverge, which is what would usually be necessary in such cases.

So is the date info from GPS ambiguous because of the roll-over - a device cannot tell what the date is based solely on GPS without having some prior info (e.g. its own internal clock)?

Unless your data contains spaces, tabs, or, god forbid, newlines. Unix pipeline tools lack any sort of useful data structuring capabilities, making them appropriate for one-off tasks at most.

I just pull GNU releases from https://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/ . One doesn't find HTTPS links in the official pages for some reason, but it exists.

On my current Linux system with NVidia drivers, HW acceleration is enabled according to chrome://gpu (there are many accelerations and some are disabled, but many are enabled including Canvas and Compositing). Regardless of all, C

On all my Linux systems (NixOS), Firefox lags/skips while scrolling all the time. It's a deal breaker for me so I use Chromium, which scrolls without lagging. I read it is because Firefox does not use HW graphics acceleration on L

I did say "original C declaration syntax forms needs to be deprecated and only the newly invented syntax forms should be used". So the new invented syntax alone is complete (you can express anything with &, (args)->ret and

For the arrays, I agree "[10] int" is better. For functions, I think the -> syntax is the only thing that makes sense. It's just natural, first you need the arguments then you get the return value. > That would mean you

However the declaration-mirrors-use idea does not apply to function arguments. If you have "void (* f)(int * arg)", you would not use it like "(* f)(* arg)" unless your arg is actually "int * * ". This could be

I wonder if cellullar automata could exhibit at least some approximation of classical mechanics, i.e. mass, inertia, forces etc.? From my understanding, motion as seen here is purely due to the structure of the objects.

I've been trying to diagnose myself for a long time (about a year) before I figured it out. By that time I've been to my doctor multiple times, to two orthopedic doctors, one gastroenterologist, had 3 spine MRIs, gastroscopy, abdo

A personal anecdote: recently I came quite close to being diagnosed with CFS or fibromyalgia but luckily found out I have primary hyperparathyroidism. I have no idea how all the doctors could have missed it, I had to figure it out myself. &

You are correct. I didn't want to go into these details to not confuse people even more :) But I think it is better to cast all the bytes to the final type (e.g. uint32) before shifting, not unknown types like unsigned int.

The problem is that it is "potentially unsafe" depending on what OTHER code does. For example, if some other code happens to manipulate the same bytes as an array of uint16_t (but not char/uint8_t) it's wrong (like in th

On virtually all modern computers chars are 8-bit and casting the address to uint8_t* is perfectly fine (due to specific provisions in the standards that I am too lazy to find). And you need unsigned so that expressions like x + (y <<

Indeed, I assume it has something to do with the second law of thermodynamics. Just like you can't make electricity out of heat alone but need a temperature difference, here you need different concentrations of salt.

Yes the code is bad but does not need to be completely rewritten. It should interpret the data as an array uint8_t (no casting to structure/integer pointers!), use simple helper functions to read out (u)int(8/16/32) values (t

From a purely mathematical perspective, without respect to the topic, almost_1 * almost_0 is almost_0 (example: 0.999 * 0.001 = 0.000999).
