I feel we are gettinf further and further away from the original discussion and moving the goalposts as we go along, but the key takeaway from this is that France should focus more on supporting weaker learners rather than just administer m

Teenagers are obviously different than small kids, but this seems to be a more systematic problem than not failing small kids when they start school. Litteracy is only 99% in France in the 15 and older group, on par with the USA. I think th

Nobody said to dump it out a pipe at one single point. Spread it out leaky pipe style over a large volume of ocean so that the average salt concentration does not significantly rise.

Fair enough on the point about zero rating and net neutrality. However, I have a hard time thinking of a scheme where allowing zero rating does not discriminate. To not put too fine a point on it, what makes Wikipedia so special that only t

Kids respond much better to positive reinforcement than negative reinforement. The best values are never cultivated through fear and threats. Just ask this of yourself: how many of you are here because you were told to get better at compute

We are talking about kids here. Kids should learn to learn, not learn to compete. More specifically school should educate every child, not only the top nth percentile who have the abilities and inclination to academically compete in all sub

This is not strictly speaking true. Finnish kids can and do retake years, if they are not ready to advance. Also the kids start getting traditional grades after the first few years. And, yes, it's a good thing that a child cannot fail

The cost savings from CDN colocation and peering to the ISP as so miniscule that, even if they were passed on in full, would barely register on your bill. We are talking about fractions of a cent per customer. Zero rating is not about passi

Zero rating is a pox upon the Internet and should be killed with fire, regardless of any perceived short term benefit to some end users. In the long term zero rating is always toxic. There are over 800 telcos in the world. Even if zero rati

Regardless of whether zero rating is a violation of network neutrality in a legal sense or not, it is in any case discriminatory. There are over 800 telcos in the world. Even if zero rating was free to the app/service provider, just ne

There aren't a lot of savings to be had. In addition to paying for the Direct Connect infrastructure you still have to pay Amazon per GB charges, albeit at a slightly lesser rate. The only real solution is to move the bandwidth usage o

The biggest problem with AWS is the outrageous cost of bandwidth. Even if you ignore all the other cost differentials, the bandwidth charges will kill you at scale. Unfortunately cloud computing, or at the very least AWS, overpromises and u

If your only concern is the cost of bandwidth, then the solution is simple. Just move off Amazon to some other provider that does not rip you off bandwidth charges.
