Yeah, it's a hilarious mimicry of their own process: "recycle" (aka destroy) everyone's old tech and sell them the new version of the same thing. It's like the most direct/blatant depiction of the lifecycle of

Continuous Wave / Morse is definitely not "all but dead". In fact, it's in literally continuous use, 24/7, worldwide. If you turn on an HF radio (and have an antenna up) and tune to an open band, you will hear mor

Ah nice! I'm glad you're still doing some regular exercise/practice. I learned a bit of aikido when I was young too, and more recently have had some very nice 1:1 instruction in shotokan from a VERY experienced practitioner

So cool. Even better, you can see a clear version of the video without annotations/highlights here: https://www.esa.int/ESA_Multimedia/Videos/2024/04/The_Sun_s_...

Yeah, they can just deliver an alternate version of the web client (assuming the target user uses the web interface) -- probably the easiest (or least-detectable) way for ProtonMail to read a user's encrypted email contents.

Yeah! thank you! this comment is better than the whole original post! Very well-worded. You must practice some martial art? (no obligation to disclose, just curious)

Not sure why they expect a 10 year old to break concrete. It's not even worth trying, it's a completely pointless ability and your daughter can easily injure her hand smashing against a brick. Unless the goal is for her to be a

Ah jeez, I was hoping for more about the alignment of structure in one's body to apply the greatest precisely-directed force (etc.), but it just focuses on the gimmicky stuff I find the absolute least interesting about martial arts (th

Today there is another top post on HN that's like "50 years of PC OSes" and that's the history I think about when I notice how poor and obtuse a lot of modern software is. It's been half a century and still we get

No judgement or anything, but there are a lot of typos in this post. A couple offhand , though there are more: "Unless bot hare literally 100% automated" -> "Unless both are" "I’d probably say somethings like&qu

To give some perspective, I owned a condo for ~11 years in a suburb of Vancouver, Canada. I sold it a few years ago for ~double what I originally paid for it. The new home I live in has gone up so much in value in just 3-4 years, I could

Does the guy have any photos to back up his claim? The tweet itself is just a random claim with no supporting evidence (unless there's more in the thread that Twitter is helpfully concealing from non-logged-in users)...

A lot of telcos used to have phone numbers you could call that would just say the number you're calling from (like with a computerized voice). I forget what this was called, but it was talked about in phreaking community or so on. No

I dropped by an LD shop tonight hoping to purchase one item. The doors were locked, with signage that the stores were closed (I assumed they would have reopened by now). They had some staff on hand, mostly to pass along info to would-be c
