I didn't say it from the perspective of a software business owner. A medical clinic owner, a restaurant owner, an e-commerce store owner, and other business owners cannot spend much time on computer security and computer privacy. If yo

That makes sense from a SaaS business owner because security and privacy are a part of software business. However, I didn't specifically talk about software business. A medical doctor may be interested in mullvad VPN and run it in his

I think it's much better to become rich and then buy security and privacy than to implement them with your manual labor. Your time is a lot more valuable than your money if you actually spend your time correctly. You can be a 6 million

Initial speed matters, but sustainable speed matters as well. Your choice should be based on initial speed and sustainable speed. Initial speed matters more, but sustainable speed can't be ignored.

Still, I wouldn't tell COBOL programmers to maybe ditch COBOL and write another language. They chose it over other languages for their own reasons. It's okay to mention rust or any other language when it's a particularly good

Compilation is not just about optimization. It gives you flexibility and robustness. Compilation options let you tweak programs. In my direct experiences, gentoo source packages break far less often than arch linux binary packages.

The official and semi-official overlays are reviewed, but third party overlays aren't. Each third party overlay is maintained by one person, so you have to trust the person behind each third party overlay.

Most advanced users don't really care much about latest compiler optimizations. I don't. I think linus torvalds still just runs GNOME or KDE on fedora. Linus doesn't care about compiler optimizations on his own machines. Does

AUR is not your repository. I have my own overlay where I am the king. I want to be the boss of my own things. Waiting for permission to take over maintenance of an abandoned AUR package was a pain in the ass. I am a king! Also, AUR is not

AUR is one repository where you can't just update an outdated package maintained by someone else who quietly gave up maintenance. I have my own gentoo overlay where I have complete control. This sovereignty is really good for me. I can

Gentoo Linux became a lot easier with binary packages and binary linux kernel. You don't need to customize it, but you can still get packages from third party overlays. The customizability is available when you need it or want it. Lear

It doesn't matter whether or not someone is a feminist. People who claim they are not feminists still support violence in one form or another. They will come up with new kinds of gestapo bullshit anyway.

Does restic not try to fetch the pristine data chunks from the source? Technically, there are two copies of data. One is on the source. The other is on the destination. Thus, restic can be like raid1. Restic has checksums for chunks. RAID1

It is said that sending and receiving raw encrypted zfs snapshots can work, but it fails for enough people that people should be warned about it.

Restic can detect and fix bitrots in encrypted backups. Restic stores small chunks of files, so only small chunks are affected by bitrots.
