Unfortunately, no. The typical interaction was the CSR requesting that I waste a bunch of time logging into the router, verifying a bunch of settings and requesting that I reboot the thing before continuing to troubleshoot my problem. The

Specifically, the DOCSIS cable modem was rented from the cable company and it was reporting the CPE MAC address that it sees connected to it. In this case, it was reporting the MAC address of my router and the CSR on the phone would look u

I got tired of Cableco, Inc. tech support identifying my router by mac address and ultimately them telling me to reboot/replace/reset my router rather than troubleshoot the actual issue. So, I set my router's mac address to s

In this case not only was the CVE a bullshit CVE, it also didn't properly scope the "affected" versions. The end result was that the version of the software we were running didn't even have the option that could potenti

You joke but I had to deal with an actual "high score CVE" internally that dealt with a denial-of-service vulnerability that happens when an administrator misconfigures the software. It literally boils down to "if you miscon

I spent some time in southern California as a software dev contractor during the dotcom heyday of the 90s. I was renting in one of the more affluent areas and it was clean, had great venues within walking distance, great weather, people in

Most likely - just like shims popped up to share PuTTY's ssh-agent with WSL1. These days I'm just running a full blown Linux DE in a VirtualBox VM since its graphic console isn't objectively terrible like Hyper-V. If for som

Ironically, I still prefer using Cygwin to WSL despite the impedance mismatch with Windows. I really wish that Microsoft had been able to make WSL1 work better instead of giving up and going with the VM route with WSL2.

I actually enjoy the early game for some strange reason and different map seeds always presented a different set of challenges (especially on deathworlds) because of water, cliffs and resource locations. I mean, sure - once you get oil and

Space Exploration goes out of it’s way _not_ to make things pointlessly grindy. Your definition of grindy is not my definition of grindy - maybe "pointlessly" was a little harsh on my part. It's cool though - differe

I greatly enjoyed Factorio and even went as far as doing a deathworld. I even tried some of the full blown mod packs like Seablock, Space Exploration and Krastorio2 to extend the base game. However, they all seem to be designed with this u

That's cool and all and I'll take your statement in good faith. However, how do I as a user report that an email that was accepted by Google's own SMTP servers was not subsequently delivered to my Gmail inbox? I can't c
