Poor coverage? For an operating system that has single digit desktop market share? I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. :)

One third of the games I've purchased on Steam are available on Linux. I guess the perception of whether or not Microsoft effectively has a monopoly in the gaming PC market segment really centers around the games you play.

The only negative consequences are to the taxpayer that has to pay to settle these things out of court. Would be nice if the arresting officers were held financially liable to some degree and then you can bet they'd make a better effo

The CPU info appears in the same place each time, assuming no other changes took place. Even if something did it would effect only it's relative position. The initial blob of CPU info, sure. I never really argued otherwise

As far as I can see (and comparing with the output on the github page), the only thing missing from dmesg is the amount of cache and byte order within the first 20 or so lines. Well, yes. A subset of the information and intersp

A trivial inspection of my FreeBSD 11.1 system's /var/run/dmesg.boot shows that it doesn't contain all the information displayed by lscpu. So what's hard to understand? lscpu displays CPU information in a pred

I had a very similar experience running Arch on a desktop. After borking my system twice in a six month period during updates (which was admittedly my fault for not following pre-upgrade instructions to the letter) I decided that I'll

Sounds like you are allergic. When I sustain bites they are virtually painless for me but they form those annoying pus filled blisters that last for a few days and itch like crazy.

Indeed. I hate those things and conduct vicious chemical warfare against any nests that pop up in my yard. There is at least one possible upside: Fire ants love to eat ticks. I guess I've learned something new today.

I'm not that familiar with Vino but VNC isn't really what I'd call usable over high latency networks compared to x2go/nx and Microsoft RDP. If all they've done is port Vino to Wayland in order to enable remotely acc

That's eventually what you get when your elected representatives blindly adhere to party dogma instead of listening to their constituents and exercising a modicum of critical thinking.

btrfs has all those features as well and my original setup was mdadm raid 5 + LVM + ext4. Regardless, I really haven't had any operational problems with btrfs for my 3 TB or so of data and when it has managed to get wedged because it c

Exactly that. I can essentially add/remove drives on a whim (for any reasonable definition of "on a whim") using btrfs and run a rebalance command afterward and I'm done. That, of course, is really not a concern for ent

My last file server used mdadm raid 5 across 4 drives and I just couldn't take the write performance loss anymore so I switched to btrfs raid1(ish) block duplication.

I would pay actual money to help get a feature like that into Chromium or Firefox. Hell, if Firefox added that exact feature I might actually rethink my decision to switch to Chrome once they drop support for all the addons I use.

I miss VB6 at times (the tooling - not so much the language) as well. It was so simple to create a functional Windows application as compared to writing a web application to do the same thing.
