Of course, having turned browsers into virtual machines I really wish browsers would take that one extra step and utilize their intimate knowledge of what memory allocations belong to which sites that are actually active and impleme

Is it really that hard to imagine having microcode in the cpu or another separate processor implementing a timer that requires proof of continuing subscription via a new certificate being uploaded to it or else it does something like lock t

Why would any sysadmin that maintains a fleet of servers with varying maintenance windows (that may or may not be dependent on the packages installed) want to feed snapd a list of dates and times to basically ask it pretty please not to aut

That certainly works too but with my approach you can run "snap refresh" manually whenever you feel like updating.

I got so annoyed with snapd that I finally patched the auto-update functionality to provide control via environment variable. It's ridiculous that this is what I have to personally go through in order to maintain control of when updat

As much as I dislike the Apple walled garden, everything I actually care about has a native iOS application. I can use one of the cheap Android tablets I have lying around for anything else.

My Pixel 2 screen (5" diagonal) is actually a bit small for me and a slight step down from the Nexus 5X I had previously. Given that, I'd probably go for an iPhone model has a slightly larger screen.

Sure, but if Chrome sends a header with a bunch of opaque identifiers that I can't reasonably map to an interest category then that doesn't really help me much.

My Pixel 2 will be the last Google phone I own. I really shouldn't continue using it but since I take excellent care of my electronics it works just as well as the day I bought it so I'm reluctant to ditch it until it actually de

You know it will though. If I as a user had the ability to select the subset of the lists of interests and ensure that only those interest categories are ever signaled to a site then I'd almost be fine with Google's current propos

I had an ancient Google account that I hadn't logged into in forever that put me into a similar recovery loop. I had the correct password for the account and it said I was logging in from a new device and asked for my recovery email.

That would be very nice to have. However, in case you are unaware you can sort by most recent reviews although that is not a perfect solution by any means.

I rarely downvote good faith comments (even if they are wrong) and instead try to focus more on upvoting good comments. However, I do downvote obvious spam, trolling, etc.

I bought a Tecware Phantom 104-key keyboard with outemu browns for $50. Per-key RGB and came with replacement switches - no regrets here either.

Generally speaking - GP GUI is just a front end for making changes to the registry for local group policies. You can find the mappings and make the registry setting changes yourself.

That's not a generic mechanism at all though - right? It is only possible if the snap publisher has decided to support multiple release channels.

Don't forget: 1) snapd action logging doesn't go to the system logs and gets purged after 72 hours - makes troubleshooting why something broke REALLY fun 2) "snap" directory polluting your home directory

While Windows 10 Home doesn't have a UI for manipulating the local group policy settings you might have luck just setting the registry key directly.
