Would be good if someone modified the extension a bit, and make it send thousands of fake requests to pollute their data if this behavior is detected. Works like Adnauseum which works like ublock origin, except you can set it to click a por

Agreed. I would never want to use a device that requires a proprietary cloud sync service. I own a Boox device, which are similar to the Remarkable ones, except it has a front light for reading. The software generally works fine. I don'

I think there has never been good reason to believe that most proprietary tools are properly encrypted at all. The most common form of this is that while the messages may indeed be end-to-end encrypted, the keys are stored in the cloud, whi

Make it illegal to have them on "app stores" and they will be inaccessible to 95% of the plebs. The remaining who use free software are those who care about privacy and pedos.

Yeah. IMO a good strategy is to rely on companies in a non-friendly country. For example, if you are in a Western country, use a Russian company for stuff that you have to outsource to a 3rd party. If you are in Russia or China, use Google

In person conversation that occurs in a pre-approved 10x10 meter anechoeic chamber without any microphones. Yeah. It's that difficult.

It has not really been a technological problem for a long time. End to end encryption is mature technology. Human institutions require humans to function, and humans are easily swayed based on circumstances in a way that make them willing t

Possibly unpopular take: it does. Cars should not be required for everyone, especially those living in a city. It's never going to be sustainable, and it wastes resources, and many people don't like driving, especially in heavy tr

This is usually mostly circumvented by demanding "EXACT CHANGE" though. In most states, there are sales tax at several levels that don't apply uniformly, so it is nearly impossible or too time-consuming to use cash, because y

The similar shit with electronic payments should stop too. Here in the US, many stores demand that you pay in EXACT CHANGE or card. However, the system used to calculate prices after taxes is such that no ordinary person is able to know how

It's only a fallacy when there are no valid reasons to think that the events will actually progress the way you claim they are. In this case, there is a clear government and/or corporate motive in increased data mining and social

I think this is also in part (in addition to the immigration) because the US overall is a pretty happy country, compared to places like Korea or Japan. It is still possible to afford to have children, though increasingly difficult.

This sounds untenable considering Mozilla's main revenue source is Google itself. Mozilla is also to blame for this. They seem to have turned into a corrupt company, promoting censorship [1], laying off development staff [2] while the

The Web is essentially a lost cause by this point. https://drewdevault.com/2020/03/18/Reckless-limitless-scope.... Firefox can barely keep up. Without some Herculean effort, no one will be able to write a new

Containers is a Firefox native feature. The temporary containers extension simply creates and destroys them on demand. I understand the criticism though - increased attack surface. But the Web is pretty much a lost cause anyways. https:&#x

Of course you can't. My recommendation: 1. Install "I don't care about cookies" 2. Install "Temporary containers" This requires that you use special containers for things you do wish to have cookies for such as

That's why decentralization (away from exchanges) and untraceability is so important. I changed some of my (relatively small amount) of crypto into Monero in a local wallet and donated it to the a variety of organizations, including Ru
