Since my 2008 mac is no longer supported for OS updates, I switched over to Linux on it and it's beautiful for development as a spare pc. Works even faster then before tbh.

It's not just a drop in replacement and since Firefox quantum the rending engine has felt butter smooth. Overall Firefox personally 'feels' faster than Chrome, just a personal view but I do love Chrome's developer tools.
