This is typically lovely and well-designed Teenage Engineering hardware. I'm sure the buttons will feel great. I'm wary of buying it though, it might end up sitting on a shelf looking pretty like my Pocket Operator.

I had no idea Goodreads was an Amazon service. Frankly, the whole site feels pretty janky. I'm surprised they would have acquired it and then not invested more.

Even if iPad Safari had dev tools, you really want to be able to test against chromium. If they ever get serious about the iPad developer market, they're going to have to relax many constraints, including this one (as well as the no-JI

In addition to being crippled under the hood, as other comments have pointed out, the alternative browsers cannot offer any extra features. Want WebMIDI? Want push notifications? Sorry, you can't have that on iOS, not with any browser.

Microsoft at the time had a virtual OS monopoly (around 90% market share if I recall), and the court found that they were unlawfully leveraging an existing monopoly for advantage in a different market (web browsers). With less than 50% shar

Only somewhat on-topic, but this is the latest in a long line of cases which transfer IP from universities to corporations on various grounds. For a particularly representative previous example, see Stanford v Roche [1], in which SCOTUS fou

Many people in this thread seem to feel that a Namecheap domain is an inalienable right. On the contrary, a company whose employees are being brutally besieged as we speak has every right to reassess who it does business with.

Namecheap is entitled to terminate its business relationship with RU entities, just as you are entitled to do the same with Namecheap. I, for one, will be moving my own personal domain to Namecheap at next renewal. This is a political issue

It's really regrettable that "cyberattack" can mean so many very different things, and reporters rarely clarify. Is it a random ransomware infection? Or is it a targeted attack by a national adversary? It really could be eith

This is slightly off topic -- it's about an old supported microarchitecture -- but Linux still supports DEC Alpha, despite no chip with that architecture having been developed since 2004. DEC Alpha has extremely weak memory ordering.

In this case, since the vacancy rate is a dramatic overstatement of actual units that are likely rentable, the impact of vacancy taxes on supply will be low. A much more fruitful avenue to increase supply would be construction.

I absolutely agree! I love my job, I love my colleagues, and I love being able to work on open source. It’s just really unfortunate that most companies make you “play the game”, instead of just retaining people with actual market comp.

This is a misled effort which is doomed to fail. 1. A healthy nonzero vacancy rate of 5-10% reduces landlord pricing power. Unnaturally low vacancy rates work against tenants, not for them. 2. Did you know that rental properties which have
