The problem here you can only rely on stdlib when most of your users have runtimes with it. For the browser features, you may never live up to this. Its worse to forever live with two implementations(native and polyfill) and as large bundle

I used to be RoR developer a while ago. Working with gitlab is a breeze because I can apply all the knowledge I have - by the virtue of being a RoR app i know how can i apply migrations, how to call interactive console, how to monitor and c

Apple, providing mere 12 month standard warranty does not feel like a premium product. $270 apple care(~20% of product price) pushes the cost of fixing product design mistake on the users. This is not how it should be. Edit: You may conside

I'm alerted that javascript tends to bloat the stdlib. Most of the features mentioned can be implmented as a external library. This is benefitial for users as they can switch the implenmentation and upgrade versions without waiting for

We should actually have more published unconclusive experiments. Scientists are pushed too hard to generate break-through results, even when there are none. Thats the reason why we're in current reproducibility crisis.

I was so disappointed with Visual Studio 2018 when somebody decided to remove all the colors from the icons. This made users guess the icon only by its outline. The icon color design of windows 98, 2000 and xp were great, i miss it so much.

The same php+jquery+ajax+plain css stack that used to work 7 years ago, would likely still work today. Thats a great departure from famous, glamorous new orchestration/styling/components/web standards that are adopted before

Encryption does not help BGP hijacks at all. You need to filter the accepted upstream routes. But filtering ultimatively defeats the purpose of BGP - route learning is no longer fully dynamic and need some manual approvals.

How do you manage to mitigate a DDOS on a public cloud? When you say GCP, Azure and AWS have the capacity to defy the ddos, what capacity are you reffering to? Are you talking about actually scaling and serving the bogus requests? Or capac

if you decide to use new/new[], you are bound to use the same allocator everywhere. c++ did not give you a chance to customize your allocation.

This sounds unappropriate(im not trying to attack anybody), but my opinion is that no programmer would stick with C++ if he learned C++ good enough and have any quant of critical thinking. Many-many parts of C++ are just plain design mistak

One of my biggest gripe is how python have a hidden non-declared agenda to have syntax as far from C as possible. its really not giving language any usage benefits when you cannot use ternary expressions, ! as not, !=, increment operators.

you can still have remote disks(same or next rack, 2m runway) with bare metal if you use HBA with external sas cabling. this works reliably, native speed, not too expensive and is well tested.

I came here to write that ASCIIZ is the more costly design decision than null, that not only led to crashing programs, but also to security vulnerabilities, sloppy APIs that cannot handle "binary data" and subpar performance.
