Well, yes you'd need a compiler step, usually done with rollup or webpack. If you are aiming for a "no build step" setup you probably have to skip all the jsx libraries too. Vue should still be a good choice, I haven't u

You have already excluded svelte, so maybe you need something more plug and play, but it is lightweight, fast and quick to adopt. It works great even for single dynamic components embedded in static html. But it all depends of on what you n

I'm sure, even if I cannot prove it, that React has its use cases. But even if you ignore the library size, it's not lightweight for any definition of the world. Preact is nice, though.

I use a loud mechanical keyboard at home since the start of the pandemic. If I ever have to go back to the office I plan to bring it there to convince my boss to let me work from home indefinitely.

Svelte doesn't really use any kind of proxy. It instruments its code with explicit invalidations and scheduled updates. Mutations are tracked "lexically" intra-component with static analysis or with explicit functions when us

I often ear this "vast majority" claim but is it true? Every slow website I encounter is react or angular based. Maybe I just don't notice the fast ones, but react and fast enough are not really my experience

Still, it's way easier to integrate a js library in a svelte component than in a react component. So maybe the two approaches have different tradeoffs and respective advantages

List diffing is done even in svelte at runtime. Keys are used the same way as any other frameworks or frontend libraries, virtual DOM or reactive.

I find difficult to believe that people articulate their thoughts. It sounds too slow to be practical for the every day tasks. I have the (surely wrong) impression that people rationalize their thoughts after the fact with words. I can e.g.

Currently looking for a new device, but this thing is maddening and disgusting. How is it even remotely acceptable that Facebook is treated like a system app? Do phone manufacturers have no interest in being seen as trustworthy?

I believe the Java people have done that in reaction to what was being done in c++ land. IMO operator overloading is fine when the operator is well behaved (i.e. respects some kind of law, plus should be at least a monoid etc).
