I'm not trying to be difficult, but we literally just had an October 2010 jobs post. http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1748045 Check around here and see what catches your fancy.

Thank you very much for taking notice. :) I'm an inveterate multitasker and if my middle-click/vimium breaks or the links are otherwise odd (not to mention the noticeable lag the html5 elements were causing for google chrome OS X) it throws

The attitude of spinning your own mini environment to solve a variety of problems using the exclusive set of idioms known best to you reeks of what has plagued Forth and C++. I love functional programming, but I don't think this animosity t

Virtually everyone at the startup I work for uses vim in a terminal. I don't, because while I know vim verbiage, I've never found it more productive than having a big fookin' screen with TextMate and some terminals floating around. I'd prob

Is anyone aware of any web frameworks that are more structured than the 1,001 Sinatra clones but aren't Django/Rails or something resembling a rotting corpse with a bad idea for an ODB persistence layer?

RVM exists specifically to solve ruby dependency hell. Have you ever made a sandboxed app with it before?

More or less my point. the ~150 additional megabytes was if they were deploying with Ubuntu + some kind of java server management software (worst case scenario for a base deployment template?)

I was speaking in RAM, not the disk-space of a VM. I didn't know the context of what you were looking for. Is there some reason you can't accomplish this using RVM and a dev database? Any specific software that makes you think it isn't prac

Is your time so lacking in value that you'll expend a substantial amount of time rolling and maintaining a custom distro of Linux that'll save maybe 50-150 megabytes of RAM? Are you in the web hosting business or something?

While I am doing the same exact thing, I think you're running sideways of the point being made here. The point isn't that minimalism can't help you achieve a particular set of goals, but rather that it isn't superior to anything else. The i

Probably just due to age curving, my IQ scores have dropped by about 30-40 points over the past 10 years on the 'normal' tests. Oddly enough, I regain a lot of those points back if I take a 'harder' IQ test. I don't think my IQ has done me

Do you have a specific part of that, that you take exception with? Replies like "wait. what?!" don't actually contribute to the conversation on YC.News and are functionally, pollution. Also don't use downvotes as an "I disagree" weapon, but
