The "[don't] violate the sovereignty of our allies and friends." clause covers your concerns. I'm not advocating US unilateralism. Your comment was apropos of nothing in what I said. Your rhetoric is misplaced.

Of course not, but Wikileaks is an adversary with an agenda, not an independent government oversight organization with the peoples' interests in mind. Certainly not that of residents of the US. We need oversight and transparency concerning

We wanted people who were serious about being involved in the community. Lurkers and trolls weren't exactly a high priority user target for us.

$60k sounds about right, although I know a couple blue collars (not plumbers, but no white-collar track professional development) that get closer than that to what I make. But on the other hand, my rent is $500/mo, and they have mortgages a

Plumbers make more than software developers? I know some blue collars, plumbers included that are doing really well in the grand scheme of things, but I don't know any that make more than I do, and I'm 20 years younger than them.

It's possible to critique things based on design, just as much as you can critique a project based on architecture if you know the goals/objectives it aims for. That's the basis upon which I choose to dismiss Go for a selection of uses unle

I admired Pike and Ken when I was younger, but I can't speak to why they came up with Go and I strongly suspect its design wasn't actually their first choice. You overestimate the power they have in a company as highly political as Google

It's not about market, although I'll be selling a physical copy. The digital will be free, as per Zed's example. I care deeply about programming, and about preventing software from turning into a mass cargo-cult profession. I want more syst

Flagged, title is garbage and doesn't adhere to HN guidelines as stated elsewhere. Keep this out of HN and leave it for your blogroll crap, and don't pretend you didn't know any better either.
