What sort of meter is this? I’m aware of a few 8 1/2 digit units but thought that was it.

Holy crap, this is maybe the scariest thing I’ve read in a week. You must have known the book really, really well. Glad you had an escape!

Dude… as a landlord in a major American city, I’m lucky to be able to choose my tenants. And while I’m talking about the regulations we face, let me further enlighten you. By making evictions extremely difficult and time-consuming to obta

That’s what I’m wondering. Are slow sales happening across the board? Or is it focused on segments where “traditional EV buyers” tend not to shop?

This is spectacular. Aside from, you know, actually making it work and having a software stack on top of it, it’s also beautiful. The wire wrapping and the chassis/backplane complete with retaining clips, everything. As a kid, I would

I’m not a teenager anymore but have kids in 4th & kindergarten. The amount of technology exposure the 4th grader gets is appalling. That goes right up to addictive little clicky games that remind me of the WoW I spent a year playing. I

Stop, just stop. I’m not going to reply to the points I’m unfamiliar with but this crap about SpaceX has to be answered (“someone is wrong on the Internet!”) SpaceX operates what, by reasonable measures, is probably the most reliable launch

Worth noting, the first stage flight probably constitutes the most powerful machine ever successfully operated by humankind, no? (A fusion bomb generates more power for a minuscule period of time, but that sort of competes in a different cl

Yes, in exchange for an investment that constituted a non-trivial portion of the GDP of a superpower near the peak of its trajectory. There’s a reason words like “unsustainable” are so often associated with the Apollo program. It was amazin

I was thinking “glass 1/5th empty” but yeah. Imho this sort of reporting and belief among the general populace is a big part of why rocket-builders have been afraid of the iterative approach since what, the mid-1960s?

Can we please separate Elon-behaves-like-a-fool from SpaceX achieving great things? It’s possible to be a huge fan of the latter while simultaneously being disgusted by the former.

I can’t see how this deserves to be downvoted. As far as I’m concerned, anything other than “just the facts, ma’am” advertising is about preying on human weakness. It’s legal, but is it right?

Even on my iPhone (who’d test against that rare platform?) I got repeated strange delays and redraws. Granted, it’s an XR which is hardly the latest model, but… your page is unusable.

I’m pretty confident that payouts from title insurance don’t even reach 10% of the premiums collected. That’s my definition of a scam.

That’s exactly the case with renter protections. I’m a landlord in a large American city. I’m also a “nice guy” who makes sure that things work. We don’t evict except when other options have been exhausted. Now for the problem: it takes man

Good lord, this is the whinge that never ends, isn’t it? If you want an Android phone, dozens if not hundreds of companies will sell you one. You can quite literally choose the level of openness you desire. Personally I prefer the Apple eco

Not quite the same thing, but there was a time when 30 pin SIMM sockets had terrible plastic clips on either end. Being something of a gorilla in my youth, I’d break them off from to time. Fortunately the one in my daily driver had another
