Wasn't there a rick roll virus spreading between jailbroken phones just last week? I'm guessing the next one could be a lot more malicious and with enough phones involved cause some service disruptions.

Why would the cost of making a Verizon/Sprint compatible phone outweigh the profit from those customers? What would the cost be to make a phone with both radios? I just really can't imagine Apple not wanting to be available to the most cons

No he really is talking about failure not releasing. He is specifically talking about the core design and iterating over the design to optimize it before releasing. His take is that on mega-budget projects there isn't a luxury to do this an

Apple wants to hire one person and this means game devs are going to be screwed? I don't think so - Apple doesn't have to hire anyone in order to make money on each and every app sold in the store - why bother trying to put out their own

Amazon is looking for control of online retail as well, especially with their recent purchase of Zappos. I don't know how this fits in to a battle with the other contenders however.

While I agree the moderation is better than Digg and Reddit, etc I think Slashdot can be a pretty harsh/negative environment because the culture accepts (and even likes to see) gladiatorial intellectual commenting. Things like, "Actually, i

This is still true - but the stigma of "hopping" can be lessened if you work within the structure of a large company. I think being "really good" at the job could be a disadvantage to a lot of hackers - essentially being "stuck" within a ro

Not to be too literal, but to answer the kid's question, "What are games good for?" Raph Koster's A Theory of Fun for Game Design sets out to answer just this. Essentially his argument boils down to that games are made to teach us things, t

I think one notable difference is the ability to go to a local store and see the device in person - this is a huge advantage and one that may help them cover a lot of ground quickly.
