Not significantly. The CO2 PPM count is going up, recession or not: http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/gmd/ccgg/trends/global.html#global_...

True - it seems though that she is in it for much more than the $$ which is great. Anyone joining a start up for the money does not have statistics on their side. Here is Joe Spolky's on how equity ought to be divided: http://answers.onst

Can you elaborate on what you think is wrong with Gevent? It comes out pretty well in this shootout: http://nichol.as/benchmark-of-python-web-servers

The Python version uses Gevent so likely uses epoll/kqueue for this test. It'd be interesting to profile and see where the issues are in the Node.js and Python code.

If you decide to go with Python, consider a micro framework like bottle.py or Flask. There is less to learn to get productive. If you do anything non-trivial you will end up using a database. MySQL, PostgreSQL are most used. You may want to

I would not teach my children to hang out with people to get things done per se. Just start getting stuff done regardless of others and as a nice side-effect you will find yourself hanging out with others who get stuff done.
